What should I pay to get membership site built?

Hi Warriors,

I need a membership site built... I have the written content but little else.

It's basically for 2 digital downloads and various combinations of audio discs, maybe 20 total products when all finished

I am trying to find a fair figure to ask someone to build it.

It will need an affiliate program and judging from what Warriors prefer, it will likely be one of those.

I am partnering with a non profit and they will receive a percentage of every sale.

Appreciate any and all help.

Thank you,

David

I've built a site using Wordpress platform alongside with the S2membership plugin. Worked great.

If you're going to go simple like Wordpress, then it shouldn't cost much. You can actually do it yourself.

      1. Buy a domain and hosting
      2. Setup Wordpress
      3. Setup your plugin

      Voila.

However, if you want to setup a site based on codes (php, html, etc...other than wordpress of some sorts) then that'll cost you upwards of $700 or more if you want quality. Hope that helps.

      Hello James,

I have the website up but it is really messed up and not trying to sell anything or could I sell anything at this time.

Nothing hooked up. I have paypal buttons but not integrated.

I would like to get the site up within 2 weeks but need someone to build a membership site.

I think I fouled it up by attempting to use different softwares... For example, I installed a landing page software and I didn't know how the theme would work or maybe the way I used it.

      In a real pickle...

      Thank you for reply...

You won't spend a lot of money if you want someone to rebrush a wordpress website. Ir you need a website done from scratch, it can end up costing a lot.. For simple projects i've received offers of well over $2000

I was thinking of starting a membership site last year. What I did was put an ad up in here: Wanted - Members Looking To Hire You It's only $5 for an ad there unless they've raised it recently.

There are several popular scripts that will do just about everything you can imagine. I got three or four guys who answered my ad that seemed to know what they were doing. I told them what I wanted and they explained a bunch of stuff, some of which I understood and some not.

There are free scripts and paid. I don't think I had an estimate over $200 and one guy was willing to do it free. I ended up deciding not to take on the project. If I were you I'd head over there and get hooked up. Good luck.

      Hi Travlinguy,

I am happy to hear you say that. I must be in the wrong time zone. I was getting quotes in the $1500 to $3000 bracket!

I may end up doing what you say for the $5 or $10... This shouldn't be that big a deal. I only may have 20 products and that's it.

I like the sound of $200 a lot more. I can probably scrape it together...

      Thank you,

      David

    Hi,

I am a membership website manager and a decent quote for a membership website is between $250-$300. Many warriors try to get the cheapest quote and what happens is that you end up with a developer that is running several projects at the same time, which compromises the responsiveness and the quality of the work.

    Regards
    Mario

Building the site isn't the issue. One can be built for under $100 if you do it yourself (hosting, wordpress theme, membership plugin, logo/images created, etc.).

If you want to get real cheap, you can use a free wordpress theme, free wordpress membership plugin like S2Member, and $5 a month host account and design your own logo. And use paypal for payment processing. So yes for $5 a month you could do it all yourself and would have a very basic membership site. But, it may not do everything you want it to or look pretty or convert very well.

For a few hundred dollars, you could have a nice theme, proper plugin, member forums, email newsletter, video chat room, etc. Depends on how fancy you want to make it.

I usually tell people to start small and test their idea. Then when they have a few sales and they know they have a viable product, they can then invest in the next level and "pretty" things up.

You certainly don't want to spend more money than you have to! Especially if the product turns out to be a dud.

Having the site is one thing, but it really comes down to the marketing (not just getting the traffic into the site), but also CONVERTING that traffic into a buyer. Plugging up leaky traffic holes and capturing leads and implementing a follow-up process to nurture and convert those leads. These are all more long-term issues which you'll encounter after your membership site it built.

You have to look at the big picture so that as you're creating your site, you're able to grow as your business grows. You'll need something that is flexible and can adapt.

Good luck, sounds like you have some exciting things on the horizon. Certainly, come back and update all of us David!
