Hi all at WF,

I am wanting to open an account with an auto responder. I was looking at Aweber or Getresponse. I have spoken to a few people and most are towards Aweber. I do catch names and email address already but I am wanting a more automated service as my opt-in list grows I don't want to be writing emails all day.

Also getting great content for all the follow up emails? Hire a writer or try myself? Same again I am not a great copywriter and spending days weeks months on putting together follow up emails just is not practical. Some people have suggested opt-in with similar products and services I am providing and copying them??

What about copy write? Also my opt-in list is very small as I am just starting out. I have come across some sites, listdotcom, the list machine, yourbiglist.com. Are these any good or are you given hundreds or thousands of un-targeted prospects?

Cheers!

Craig

  • I've tried a few different services but prefer Aweber because of the deliverability rate. Seems to be the highest in my experience.

I suggest you start with Aweber, and for the emails, you can write them yourself.

In your first emails, you should communicate with your list and ask them what is their biggest frustration when trying to...............?

Then, ask them what they want?

I also advise you ti build your list yourself. It's much better than any other service.

Personally I prefer Aweber. And it's a big no-no to host any autoresponder on your own server. The risk is too big to bear.

As for emails, I don't hire anyone but I write them myself. You have to be yourself and the email reflects your personality. You don't need to have an A in English.

Occasionally, I do use freelancers and PLR articles or reports for my content.

Maybe for you, but definitely not for everyone.

      Here, here!!

I host my own responder and it works fine, had some issues with sending large quantities of emails but worked with the hosting company to resolve the issues.

I prefer aweber without a doubt and have been using them for a number of years. There customer service is amazing thats for sure. Think of it like this do you go to the cheap supermarket were the service isnt great or pay extra for great customer service at the more expensive supermarket.

Here is a link to a free aweber tutorial that will help you out if you decide to use them to set up your account.

I have created my own mailing system which I'm going to keep tweaking. I can set it to send a set amount of emails per hour, ie - 150 or 180 etc. Also, no newsletter will get sent twice to the same subscriber as it logs the subs id and then checks against it before sending the same newsletter out.

Hopefully this will work fine for me. Is so far. Fingers crossed. lol.

I know you've decided on aWeber, and a good decision. Most of the major players provide the same services, sending and delivering your emails. They differentiate themselves in other ways (services offered, support, pricing etc).

The forum has a great search feature so answer to this question - while bordering on a religious experience for some - gets covered a great deal.

As for my 2 cents, I like iContact given the SEO benefits provided by their community for a hosted solution.

For hosting on your computer or dedicated server - you can't beat Neil's Autoresponse Plus. There are plenty of gotcha's with hosting your own AR, but it can be done - especially for small, dedicated lists.

    best,

Having tried a few, I'd go with Aweber. Great features, useful blog, fantastic customer service and because it's almost now the industry standard, very compatible with other sites and software.
