Does anyone know what value is? How do you describe it? Being a marketer/entrepreneur your job is to create value for others. But how would one describe it with clarity?

This is a rhetorical question and it's something I reflect on a lot. I also found that different people have different answers. I'm just curious how you guys describe it. Thanks in advance for sharing and adding value to the conversation

This is a tough one, very expansive question. In general I would say I take value from something if it solves a problem I have, entertains me or teaches me something new.

If I had to provide an extremely simple definition of what value is in the IM game then I would probably say "providing directions", which is not the same as handing everything on a plate (unless they're paying for it of course)

You must know the answer to that with a username like yours. Don't you?

I would consider anything that helps me solve a problem valuable. Something the genuinely helps someone.

To me, value is offering answers or solutions to a need or want of someone else. Value is different to every person, but it is possible to create things that large groups of people find valuable. There are so many people in the world, and needs and wants will match over large amounts of people.

You have to get your products or answers out to as many people as you can. You need to create as many good products and answers as you can so that you are bound to have things stick with customers.

I really think this question comes from inside! What is value? What is value to you?

When i create a product, i like to think of it like this:
    - Would i be willing to pay for it?
    - Would this help me achieve my goals?
    - Wil this give me results?

When you as creator truly believe this is the cause, then nobody can tell you otherwise

Time & Money = Freedom. If you provide something that saves me time and money, it has high value. If it does not provide those things, I don't.

Value is something that has different meaning for different people. Actually value of a product or service for a person is according to his or her need for that product or service. Lets take an example of a car. If a low salaried guy manages to buy a car then his need is only to drive safely in any situation such as raining or when it is very hot. If a top executive of a multi national firm buys a car then his need is to drive safely in car + manage his reputation also. Value is something that cannot be defined in just few lines but still I gave a try and hope you will like it.

To me value means high quality that can be put to use immediately. Supose you were stranded on a deserted island and you found a pirate's chest filled with gold. Now you may consider that to gold to be very valuable. But it does not help your situation because you need a boat to get off the island.

So value can only apply if it can be used. Otherwise it is worthless. Value is only relevant to the user.

        Value is subjective

What you find of value could be worthless to me and vice versa

Ask your market what their problems are, they'd value a solution to them.

Value is when you help others get more of what they want or need, as opposed to useless crap.

Value is tangible and intangible products, services, ideas that add life, joy and happiness to others.

Of course, not everyone wants life, joy and happiness. Some people literally want pain and misery and if you provide that for them, it becomes valuable.
