[Mini Rant]Do you make helpful youtube videos

If you make how to youtube videos purlease stop wasting my time.

Example: Let's say I want to know how to install and use the 'wingle wangle' wp plug in (I made the name up) so I search on youtube and see a video entitled 'how to install and use the 'wingle wangle' wordpress plug in.

Great I think....EXACTLY what I'm looking for....so the video starts.

First some loud dance music and flashy logos introductory pages.
Then a long introduction that sounds a bit like this

"Hi guys and welcome to this video in which I am going to solve a problem that lots of people have. The title of this video is how to install and use the 'wingle wangle' wordpress plug in and what I'm going to be explaining to you today in this youtube video is how to install and use the 'wingle wangle' plug in for wordpress...."

AAARRRGGGHHH SHUT UP....I KNOW THAT'S WHAT THE VIDEO IS GOING TO DO....THAT'S WHAT I SEARCHED FOR....THAT'S WHAT THE TITLE SAYS...PLEASE JUST GET TO THE PART THAT DOES WHAT THE TITLE SAYS IT'S GOING TO AND STOP WASTING MY LIFE.

I appreciate the fact that you took the trouble to make the video but honestly you'll get a lot more subscribers if you just do what the title says.

PHEW Rant over.

I only make video reviews i.e. review of products that I actually use. There are two massive reasons for this:

    1) Since I already use the product the content is simple. Overview, pros/cons, conclusion.

    2) Video reviews have higher conversions.

I like the homemade look and feel to it. No cheesy graphics or porn-star music. Just me talking from my desktop.

I know what you mean, and less is definitely more.

As for your your "made up" wingle wangle, well sorry to disappoint you but this guy beat you to it . . . wingle wangle

. . . although it meets your criteria of:

    1. No loud dance music.
    2. No flashy logos.
    3. Short and to the point.

    But it's truly weird

Whats worse is when the video has no speech but just some 90's gangsta rap or dubstep over it and you dont know WTF is going on.

You try and up the resolution to 1080 HD and found out this video was filmed with a potato.

Sometimes I have to login to YT just to tell the uploader they suck balls.

One thing to remember is that youtube is only a distribution channel and whilst it would suit your tastes better to have the video edited to remove the intro portion as its in the title. If this video is shared elsewhere without the title bar then this summary allows you to decide whether its worth watching any further.

I certainly won't be changing my format but then I don't expect you will be visiting anytime soon.

I feel the same way about Youtube videos when I am searching for information on how to do something. The worst is when people use Notepad to type out the introduction to their video... arg..

    Just get to the point!!

  • Not sure why people feel the need to bash creators that make an effort to record and upload any kind of helpful information. Especially when they offer it for free. If something is being "sold", then I can see where some negative feedback might be warranted at times. Having said that, I could comment on the quality of some of these so called "products" being created and "sold" by some of you, especially when you attempt to include audio, but I won't. We all have different levels of expertise and experience, and I suggest we respect those who are still learning to get to where you are today... Just sayin...
