Why is Facebook bot bombarding my site with visits?

I was checking my stats for a new site, and Statcounter tells me I have 51 visits so far today, not bad I think. but I have no came from data, no keyword data. In fact, I have almost nothing to account for that visitor count other than Facebook bots. WTF

Why are their bots bombarding me with hits?

    Try blocking facebook bot IP 69.171.243.*

    Don't worry about it, Tim. Like Gary said, you can block
    the IP, but it's actually a good thing, like a Statcounter moderator
    said here:

    "Anytime anyone posts a link to your site on their own or anyone's timeline, or anyone shares an already posted link, the Facebook bot immediately goes to your site to see if it's still there, and checks the title of the page, and grabs thumbnails.

    If someone with many thousands of friends posts a cool page from your site, then their friends all see the update and repost it, you will have tons of visits from the Facebook bot.

      If you say so, but I am not seeing any human visits, as of yesterday. I do seem to ghave more visits in my initial stats than I have visits from the bot. But I often see stats on Statcounter than are accounted for when I drill down.
