Is it possible to add the same bank account used previously to a new Paypal account?

Hi,

Just wondering as the title, I had an old Paypal account in mom's name 2 years ago, it got banned about 2 years ago too, and the 180 days is well over since it has been 2 years. Now would it be ok to use that same bank account number to set up a new PayPal account in her name? or do they keep digital records of this somewhere on their system, so if that same bank account number were to come up again in the future, it would raise a red flag? Does anyone know about this? thanks

I would create a new account. If the old account was banned, you don't want any connection to it.

You (or your mom) could create a free online account at ING Direct for example. Then link that account to PayPal on one side and your 'real' bank account on the other.

I would not use the same bank account. Think about it logically from Paypal's perspective. If you have been banned in the past then there was likely a reason for that. They are not just going to give you a cooling off period because they know a lot of people don't change. They would definitely still have records of that bank account number being associated with a banned account, same with your name, address, etc.

You would need to create an account with an entirely separate identity if you wanted to rejoin. Their terms specifically state that if your account has been banned you are not to try and open a new one. So in doing so you are already getting off on the wrong foot. You might be able to get around things by using a new identity but you will always be watching over your back (so to speak) since what you are doing is not technically allowed.
