A Very Basic Breakdown Of How I Successfully SEO

First step is to search for my keywords!

I then start off with ON PAGE SEO:
I choose my title tag. This is the title of the page if you like. This will relate to my most viewed keyword. The title tag is the most important factor for on page seo.

I then move on to my heading tags. Heading 1 is the second most important factor on on page seo. H2 Is not AS important but still counts. H3 H4 and H5 are fairly weak but again, they all still count.

The title tag is the link you see in google!

I like to keep a good keyword prominance and density. Too much bolding is not good either. BUT, I will bold the keywords/sentances that are in the first paragraph on that page. I personally don't bother with italics.

On page Vs Off Page SEO

Off page is much more important but you still have to optimize the on page SEO as much as you can. (without over-optimizing of course).

When SEO'ing remember to keep it as natural as you can. You don't want 100% optimization obviously.

Then I move onto Off Page SEO:
I first look at what is on the first page of google. I see what they are doing, and now I know that all I have to do is beat them! Just because they're top it does not mean that they are doing everything right!

Ideally, I know you have heard this before, but you will need backlinks. And here is how I get them.

I write articles (or if you are unsure on the subject employ some one). I then submit these to various article sites but more importantly websites related to my subject area. Ideally, you want an article relating to your keyword with your keyword bang in the middle of the text hyperlinked to your site. Make sure you bold that link too.

Remember, if a related site doesn't let you put a link in your article then I don't give up. See if they will let you even sign it 'written by yourdomain.com' with no link. Because people will still go to your site!

Don't over-optimize by bolding and/or linking the whole article!

Also, it's not the complete end of the world if you have a link to your site at the start or the end of the article. It's just a lot better in the middle of the text.

Another important factor with SEO is not to do it too quickly. Google like it nice and natural. You have to look at the bigger picture.

For SEO - DO NOT GET BANNED BY GOOGLE! Simple, but just don't, it makes it a lot easier for yourself.

Back to off-page. We also would like related site categories linking to us rather than not related. For example a website about kitchens linking to kitchens is obviously worth more than a site about fishing linking to kitchens. But then again, a link is better than no link. So remember that!

It is ideal that you contact the related sites saying I know you have links on your page, as we are related please could you put a link on your page. Make sure you offer something in return. So write them a unique and free article listing the benefits of your subject area. Don't duplicate the content when linking from other sites. Make sure every article is individual.

I always like to do a hub page or a squidoo page and treat it like my own site too and have links in there linking to my site.

Proceeding with off page... I used article writers on elance to write my articles for me about my various keywords. I normally get 20 articles at a time. But get what you can afford. Or write them yourself! Then, these articles will go to other sites so that they can link to me. Make sure they write nice and naturally and not too spammy. Your hub/squidoo article will want to be 600 words and all other articles roughly 400-500 words!

Some free article sites you will want to submit articles to:
ezinearticles.com
articlecity.com
goarticles.com
findarticles.com
articlebase.com
articledashboard.com

These may rank in google over your site initially so it is good to submit to these sites so that they are ranking for your site.

Tip: Try not to link out where possible! Take one step at a time.

Any other input will be much appreciated!

Good luck!
