how do you trust or verify a coach/mentor? does the forum have a review section or a place for people to air out their experiences? I am looking but dont want to get ripped off. Dont want no freebies but dont need any scams? Wish there was a firewall for the offers, it is hard when you cant see eye to eye. I am a unemployed Vet who is going into a new career direction, I know I am a newbie, understand the importance of training/mentoring, but how do you Trust But Verify?

You can't. I don't think the Review section is much to go by either.

I've signed up for a few coaching products in the past from "respected" Warriors with raving reviews, only to be left high and dry.

The best advice I can give you is go with someone you know and trust's advice... i.e. a friend of yours who's used a certain coach with good results.

    Cheers,
    Michelle

Even reviews are still only the opinion of one person. You have to use your own judgement the same way you do when you go to the supermarket and decide which brand of milk or bread you are going to buy from the options available.

If you are concerned then make sure the program has a refund guarantee so you can get your money back if it does not live up to your expectations.

Offering refunds for coaching is ridiculous Will.

No coach or mentor can be held responsible for the amount of effort someone is or isn't willing to put in.

        No it's not.

You can say that about absolutely any coaching product, course or tool. You have no control over how people use them or the action they will take. So why do all tools and products these days have guarantees?

You will find it VERY hard to get people who don't know you to sign up to an expensive coaching program if you have no guarantee in place. You would want one if you were purchasing, right? I would.

If you believe in your coaching program then you should have no hassle providing some type of guarantee.

Maybe you are talking about one on one coaching? For that I would have to rethink the guarantee policy because you are giving your time to each and every person and that time has a direct cost to you. But for expensive group coaching and training programs I would always offer some form of guarantee.

Remember, a guarantee is there to give piece of mind to the majority of your customers who will never use it. Don't worry about the small few who will always take advantage of refund guarantees. You will make more sales by having a refund policy in place than you will lose by having that same refund policy in place. Unless ofcourse your training sucks in which case no refund policy is going to help you.

Ever since I read 4 hour work week and Think and grow rich about a year ago, and started to learn about online business and the beauty of lifestyle etrepreneurship, I just knew that it's essential for my progress and success to have mentors/coaches that will hold me accountable and guide me along the way.

My suggestion to you is that you do your research. What are your interests and passions? Do you have any role models you like? What does a successful person look like to you? And do they have a record of helping others succeed? Are they part of great community of people? That's just a few questions you can ask yourself to start thinking about what you want out of the coaching/mentorship.

Despite I'm more into "Lifestyle Business", and the the lifestyle part of things, not just internet marketing, my first mentor I actually found on the warrior forum. What I liked about what he had to offer was that he was super honest, straight forward and we are also very similar, same interests and passions and view things the same way. I consider him a very good friend and plan to visit him as soon as I get time.

I've also paid a lot of money for another great mentor who happens to be a best selling author and lifestyle entrepreneur. I found him through my network of friends, so the trust and respect for him was already there in that sense. He's a really good friend of mine now as well, not just my mentor, so basically I paid for his time and commitment to making me succeed and I think that's fair. We are working together on a project now, launching my first product and he will help me with my lifestyle business till i become a successful entrepreneur.

The key lessons I learned from all this and some other not so great experiences is that when I choose a mentor/coach he/she has to be someone I can trust to 100%, and also his princples and values need to be similar to mine. If you are just too different than your mentor it will be hard for you to work together with him, probably not work out at all from my own experience. I'm not talking about that you can't learn anything from such a mentor, but will most likekly not be beneficial in the future, since a big part of of mentorship/coaching is to actually enjoy the journey and working with someone who is dedicated to make you succeed in business and life.

But no mentor/coach can help you succeed with anything unless you TAKE MASSIVE ACTION. Always remember that. If they have a record of helping other people succeed, it is because the past students took action, and to become a success in anything you want to master, that's essential. A mentor can just hold you accountable, guide you and tell you how to do things etc. Then it's up to you to actually go out there and do it in the real world, learning by doing. I truly believe that you can never fail at anything if you keep moving forward and learn from your mistakes. You fail only if you give up! The key to success is persitance and consitency, ask any entrepreneur and multi-millionarie and they will tell you the same.

If you need any help with finding a mentor or a community of great people that can help you succeed, I will be happy to point you in the right direction! Just message me.

    Hope this helps a bit

coaching is an internet marketing niche which can be further specialized (ex: ppc coaching).

Unless you're wanting to go into coaching yourself and want to find out more about your competition, I'd avoid paying for one
