Help needed with keyword research -

So I've used the Google keywords tracker tool and doing everything people have suggested here as far searching for long tail words with at least 2 or 3 words in the phrase, making sure there is adequate search volume and not too many competing websites and I'm just having a hell of a time finding something that fits well within those restrictions that also relates to my site (health and fitness/nutrition focus).

Can anyone help me with this if I give you the base set of keywords I started using?

Much appreciated -

It is not that easy..why because health is a very fickle field..people are searching very specifically in health and they do NOT pull the sales plug as easy as if buying a pair of jeans.. The health field customer only wants authorities before they click..even if you have the right keywords..it is a niche where the customer must really click with you..health can be profittable BUT it can also be a pain uless

    Use google keyword research tool.

Put in the root keyword that you are looking for. For example. "Girls"

( assuming you have a product about that)

Then many many will show up in the results. "How To Attract Girls"

Then from there you can play around and land on to different things such as "how to attract girls online" , "how to attract girls on the internet" "How to attract girls in college"

It all starts from breaking down a root keyword and expanding from there.

I hope this helps and all of these were JUST EXAMPLES! ;-)

Problem is all the keywords have hundreds of thousands (if not millions of competing) sites. So the theme of the site is fitness and nutrition. Both of those keywords would be ridiculous (over 30mm competing sites).

So the Keyword tracker suggested stuff like:
      Healthy eating supplements
      Body building workout
      Muscle Building Tips
      Nutrition for exercise

And these still have hundreds of thousands of competing websites.
Any tips to take it to the next layer of granularity?

      Thanks

When you search for the competing websites you want to put the keyword phrase in quotes - this represents your "true" competition. I think you will see that ranking for these phrases are more attainable if you do that.

Also, you want to assess the weight of the competition. You might have a bazillion competing pages but if they are all PR0 with no backlinks it would be easy pickins. On the other hand, there might be only 100 competing but if they are all PR6 authority pages you can forget about beating them without significant effort.
