CB product. VPS, Amazon S3 confusion!

Im kind of confused what I should be putting on my VPS and on Amazon S3. All of my membership files im gonna put on amazon S3. But where should the sales video be put on if Im using flowplayer? Does it go on Amazon S3 as well or does it go on the VPS. Can it even go on the VPS? Isnt the purpose of the VPS to handle large amounts of traffic? I dont really know if I know what im talking about...can someone clear this up for me please?

You should put all files you can on Amazon S3. This includes any website images, videos, audios, downloads... basically everything you can.

This takes a huge strain off your server. Amazon will load things much faster than your own server that is getting a ton of requests from your users.

Then just place your main website, etc on your server.

      You're welcome.

The main thing to remember is that every single image, video, download, file, etc that loads on your website is another request to your server. This means if someone views your salespage and it has 10 images on it, that's 10 requests to your server just to display those images for that user. A server only has a maximum load they can handle at any one time. Once there are more requests than the server can handle, that is when a server goes down.

By removing all of these files such as images, videos, downloads, etc to an external service such as Amazon S3, it means you are removing all of those file requests from your server since the person viewing that page is now downloading those files from Amazon S3 and not your server. This means your server can now handle a lot more users at the same time before it will crash.
