I'm about to getting paid $2000 through paypal. Anyway, I don't usually use paypal and I wonder if paypal think it's suspicious when I get that kind of amount so fast

I had an paypal acc once and I got paid $500 but sent the money over to a friend immediately after I received it so paypal was suspicious. They actually gave me a -$500 balance.

How do you guys think this transaction will go ?

My suggestion to you that never send the payment immediately when you receive the payments, As you had done previously. You can wait for some days then send the amount to anyone.

I've spoken more than once over the years to people higher up at Paypal at length about these issues. It's about patterns of money movement (in and out). And it's about keeping a healthy balance to cover chargebacks/disputes. If you don't have a long history of consistent best behaviors with them, you'll send up a red flag if you move 2 grand through your account (comes in, goes right back out). Might not get your account frozen, but it's a real possibility.

Don't pull your money out right away otherwise it places the risk back on Paypal and they don't like that. That's when issues happen.

Probably the worst thing to do is to withdraw the whole amount quickly. That's exactly what sounds alarm bells for them.

(It might also be wise not to take too much notice of the people posting in similar threads saying "I don't trust PayPal so I always empty my PayPal account immediately and leave nothing there". Those are the people who - without thinking it through - are making sure that PayPal doesn't trust them.)

I assume that you have a fully verified account with paypal?

Keeping the money in your account for a few days is a good idea - that's what i would do.

Even though the money appears in your account it doesn't mean the transaction has fully cleared. That can take a day or two, which is why you had a negative balance.

I am assuming that negative corrected quickly and you still have the paypal account...right?

Yes, I would have to agree with everyone. Don't move your money to quickly and give it a few days. When you move your money too fast that sends a RED FLAG.

I have been proactive many times with paypal and let them know beforehand that stuff is going to happen and that's been helpful.

Just keep the money in Paypal for awhile and move it out small chunks at a time if you have to move it out.

The most important thing is the STATUS (verified or non verified) and state of well being of your account. Are you payment in hold? Or do you have any unresolved disputes.

Well, i generally don't see that as a problem if you are in the clear.

Just be careful who you get the payment from and make sure they are trustworthy. They can dispute the payment and more than likely win. It is very hard to win if you are the one accepting the payment. I would make sure they sign a contract or get some proof that you provided the service/item.

It is fine to accept the 2k, I have received much larger payments. I recommend getting the payment and then making sure your paypal account is fully verified before you try to withdraw.

Honestly, call PayPal and talk to them. I always cal land talk to PayPal when i am about to launch a product or if I know I am at an event where I will be getting a lot of sales.

Make sure you correct phone number is on your account as well. Just in case they need to contact you for any reason. I forgot to tell them I was going to Vegas one time and they shut off my account and tried calling my old number.

Bottom line, I would just call PayPal and get your questions answered directly from them so then you are not guessing what is going to happen and you can move forward.

I agree with calling Paypal and telling them about your situation and how you're making this money. The more information that they have about it, the better. They will be much more understanding if you call them before you receive the money.

Contact Paypal people and explain them a situation. In any case you get a sound advice what to do. They are not there to punish you, they are there to make Paypal business safe and reliable for everybody.

I have never transfered such large amounts, but I must say I would not move it chunk by chunk like somebody suggested earlier, unless it is free...I get charged every time I move money in my bank account, so from my point of view is better to wait a couple of days and move the entire amount once.
