What's the difference between these two traffic-getting terms?

Perhaps I'm confused. But I've been looking at both free and paid traffic methods for the past few hours now. While playing poker of course. But these three terms keep getting mentioned in the same reply:

Article directories, guest blogging, and article syndication.

Maybe it's just me, but I thought article directories and guest blogging were "article syndication". Am I missing another kind?

Thanks,

Marc

    Big difference among the 3.

Article marketing means getting your article published and getting backlinks. You also shoot to generate direct traffic. Many article sites don't care if the article is original or just a copy of the stuff you submitted elsewhere or put on your own site. The SEO value of article-based linkbuilding is dying due to abuse.

Guest blogging means posting an original and exclusive post on the the blog of another person in hopes that the blog will pass link juice and/or send targeted traffic.

Syndication happens when people go to an article site and like your content and post it on their sites with your link.
