Can I Sell my Website?

Hi there,
I have made a website, all unique content as I paid a pro top write all the bits for me, I had a course written, and I had my pro produce a few basic training videos...the site is called free rhythm guitar 9 week training course which is not the best domain name for what the site is all about, but it is about acoustic guitars, the history and everything, how to maintian your acoustic guitar and how to play etc
I am not sure If I need to add anything else to it, or remove some of the ads i have put on there...
But I am looking at what I would need to do to sell the site...with its unique content that cost me to have written...
I was looking at flippa, but It appears you have to pay to sell a site on there...
Whats my best option here?

Flippa has been inundated with BS and relatively new affiliate style sites lately created by marketers from the subcontinent which in turn is beginning to turn away the "serious" web investors.

I'd look to your niche forums to shop your site around. Somebody within that niche will prove to be a motivated buyer.

Best part is you don't have to pay a listing or commission fee to flippa.

I disagree....there are still several interested buyers on Flippa and it is one of the easiest places to sell a website...although the fees have gone up...I have sold several sites their recently for more than I asked for.

Its up to you though O/P - do you want to spend hours looking for sub-par places to sell your site (= time wasted), or just go to a big place like Flippa post it and almost guarantee a buyer as long as you know how to "sell" your site...

Website "flippers" / "buyers" generally want to pay about 10 times what the site makes every month from my experience - so if your site makes $100 a month with evidence you might get 1K for it...that's low in my opinion...

Guess it depends if you want to cough up a fee & make it quick...or spend hours on less popular places...

One place you might try is digital point i have heard of people buying sites there too.

I would go to a forum in your niche and then ask that question there.

You can also post your website in your signature here and say that it is for sale. That is what I would do. You never know who is going to click on your signature link and be a potential buyer.

THanks Guys great advice, the reason why I want to sell it is because I have spent a lot of time building it and outsourcing the content to a certain degree, paying for an expert to write all this, but I have no time now to maintain it and keep it moving in the right direction, I am not sure how to ever make much money from it, currently not a lot of traffic.
So looking to sell it and maybe get my investment back...but not sure the best way to sell a website with no real data on traffic yet?

namepros buyers don't want to pay much. They are not end users, but resellers for the most part.

The problem is that you have put a lot into it, but have no traffic and revenue. Traffic and revenue are what sells a site on Flippa for good money. The buyers don't appreciate unique content and a unique product as much as they do traffic and revenue. I've seen the crappiest Adsense sites go for pretty large sums because they have a small Adsense revenue. It would really pay you to get traffic and make some sales with it before trying to sell it or you may not get your investment in it back.

This may sound counter-intuitive...but you WANT to list in a place that charges you! If they didn't charge you to sell your site there you'd have EVERYONE listing their sites with the off-chance or hope that their site will sell.

You won't find a larger buy/sell audience for websites - Flippa's the spot. You could go boutique with a broker, but you're not likely to have them take you on unless the site is earning a fair bit of money.

On Flippa and elsewhere...the value of a site will often come down to its earnings. (There are exceptions where you have millions of users, inherently awesome technology, etc...but this likely doesn't apply to most here)
