List & sales funnel monetization

Hi Warriors,

I have been playing with the idea of segmenting my list and monetizing in the following way:

1) drive traffic through my sales funnel and build a list
2) make sales through front and back-end offers
3) buyers go immediately onto a separate buyers only list
4) now from here normally I would send follow up emails to my subscribers that have not yet purchased from me (if they purchase I move them onto my buyers list). But now I'm thinking i could instead use this list to sell solo ads to listbuilders.

My thinking behind this is that I can focus solely on testing and tweaking my sales funnel for stellar conversions on my front/back-end offers and build a solid relationship with my BUYERS list but at the same time be assured of sales from my subs that have not purchased from me.

Any thoughts?

    I'd focus on building a strong relationship with prospects
    on your subscriber list too, to move them toward buying
    YOUR products and quality affiliate recommendations.

    I would not recommend whoring out your subscribers to
    solo-ad buyers. Just because a lot of people are doing it
    doesn't mean that it's the best option.

    Create real value for subscribers on your prospects list and
    buyers lists and progress people through a well-developed
    and more strategic sales and marketing funnel.

      Thanks Shaun,

      I guess the whole solo ad business concept is very appealing as it is a more hands off, predictable model as you can quite literally just take orders once you have a list. The only aspect to keep in mind is that your list is building faster than unsubscribes. I guess I just felt like although I could try and convince my subscribers to buy over time with relationship and value marketing, there will always be more that dont, whereas with a solo ad business, simply having the list allows one to start taking orders

      I thought I could kill 2 birds with one stone you know

    What is the product that your selling?

    If I bought something from you, and then you started sending me to squeezepages that solo ad buyers use I would be pretty quick to remove myself from that list.

    Also what "spam" terms do you have on your initial join page? The world of solo adverts is so murky at the moment that most people use a junk email as they know it will just get multiple offers.

    It may be best not to rent out your list if you want to still be here next year.

      Hi Andrew,

      thank you for your opinion. yours together with shaun's have really hit home. i have always been a believer of value added email marketing but i just wanted opinions. I guess you could say i already know what you mentioned in you reply but i wanted to hear it from someone else.

    Hey Richy,

    The suggestions above are good ones.

    However, I don't want you to think that it has to be "this way" or "that way"...

    You can still sell the occasional solo ad AND also build a relationship with your freebie list in the process.

    For example - you could sell one solo ad a week to your freebie list while using the other emails to promo your own products (or affiliate products) and to build a relationship with them to get them to move to the buyer's list.

    The key is moderation. If you plan on selling one or more solo's a day from your list then you will need to work extra hard with lead generation to keep up with the unsubs.

      Hey Coby,

      Thanks for the advice. Yeah I do a lot of reverse engineering and I see what works and what doesnt. I know solo ad sellers have a negative stigma attached to them as they adopt the "earn and burn" approach. But i tend to agree with you that so long as it is in moderation, there is no reason why a list can't be monestized in 2 or 3 ways even. I know its about building a relationship but i also love facts and figures, and if i can see that there are wasted subs on my list that are not buying then i'd rather try and make money out of them than let them sit stagnant. I can still focus my relationship and value marketing on them but no reason i cant drop in a solo ad or 2

    I have been thinking about that after I bought 5 solo ads, and didn't had any sales. That's the only way how to earn on freebies. After few months of follow up, this is only way, for sure...
