Is it legal to have a affiliate link on a Youtube video?

Yes,,

Hello my internet marketing friends!

I recently bought a wso here, and in it, a section spoke about putting an affiliate link in the video description portion.

Now,, I'm not positive, but, I thought it was against youtube rules to link DIRECTLY to an affiliate page or offer.

It would be dandy if you can but, I'm just saying,, I thought it wasn't allowed:confused:

I have seen that advice also on a WSO. I do this and point the link back to what the video is about. Although you can't actually put a "real" link in the description, just a text.

Can't say I can tell if it has had value, these are on videos with 1000s of views rather than something that was viral.

Probably to be safe I would link it to a page that then links to the affiliate program. For the extra brave, use a Javascript auto redirect.

You most certainly can put a live link in the description on YouTube videos... You are probably thinking in the comments section.

I have affiliate links in Youtube video descriptions but I just use tiny url links or redirects on my own domain.

I've looked through the YouTube community guidelines as well as the terms and conditions, but couldn't find anything that even mentioned links. I expect that if the video is legitimate, and the site being linked to isn't malicious, that YouTube wouldn't care. I've never heard of anyone having a video deleted for a link.

You can use affiliate links in description, but just cloak them. You can use Bitly for it.

General rule: on your own content, affiliate links are allowed. On others, no.

Using affiliate link won't terminate the video. Many of my friends are using the strategy and earning bucks from it.
