How to keep a solo ad list happy?

I'm thinking to get into the solo ad business but have a bit a problem about the point I ask in the title.

You get them on a list and deliver a great gift but do you prepare them (and if yes - how) to get an email promo each and every day from then on?

Is there a better way to keep them happy other than giving away some freebie each week?

What's the average unsubscribe rate in a list which gets a lot of ads served?

Thanks

G.

    Hey,

The answer is simple, you keep giving them good useful stuff that they like. Just because you gave someone something cool one time doesn't mean that you have the right to stick your hand into their pockets every time you talk to them afterwards.

Look at it this way. If somebody gave you a new computer you'd probably think they're a pretty cool person and would probably (at least to some degree) be willing to listen to what they have to say when they give it to you.

Now, lets say you see the same person tomorrow and instead of giving you something you want in exchange for talking to them they push you down on the ground and tell you to give them your money.

How many days in a row of being pushed down and asked for your money would you be willing to tolerate before you decide to turn and run every time you see that person? Well, it's the same with your list.

They're not just "numbers" in an autoresponder account, they're real living breathing people with problems of their own and they're looking for solutions to those problems from you. You need to treat them like human beings and not "numbers on a list".

I have no respect for anyone who demonstrates that they have no respect for me. The "churn and burn" philosophy does nothing but show your disregard for me as someone who came to you seeking a solution to my problem.

Anyway, I'm sorry for the rant and I'm not saying YOU in particular are treating anyone poorly, I'm just talking in the general sense.

But to answer your question, if you can tolerate a high turnover/unopen rate then feel free to go the churn and burn route. But if you want me to keep opening your emails and listening to what you have to say you need to consistently show me that you care about me by trying to help me with my problems. That's why I signed up to your list in the first place and if you keep delivering me value I'll keep listening to what you have to say.

    Hope that helps.

    Tony.

      Hi Tony

no worries, I'm actually closer to your way of seeing it than you can imagine.

That's why I'm not in this business yet.

Before I start to venture in this area I try to see how this can be done delivering the best quality possible.
Due to the nature of the list you will have a large unsubscriber rate, no chance to avoid that.

I think a good way to be respectful is to offer weekly good free content and then from time to time your own products instead of only solo's from others.

When you get a buyer, take him off that freebie list and treat him like a valuable buyer over a different list.

Make your list a 'Bargain of the Day' type. Sign-up for some CPA accounts and send your list special offers where they get a genuine discount. They won't mind because that's what they signed up for. Yo make money, they save money ... win-win!

A general guide will be treating them like how you want to be treated yourself.

I space out the ads and I make it CLEAR when recruiting list members that they are going to get OPPORTUNITIES and ANNOUNCEMENTS.

Lol! People hearing about free or paid offers in their inbox that cost money if they want them is not the same as mugging them! No gun to their head to open the email and sign into their PayPal account to pay, or even to stay on the list.

      This forum cracks me up!

Always treat a customer how you would want to be treated. I also wouldn't bombard them with offers everyday.

I email my lit every single day, sometimes twice a day, and my list absolutely loves me, my unsubscribe rates are low, and my open rates are high.

I send offers every single day, here is the important part though, I provide my audience with a lot of really helpful content , a lot of inspiring content, even some entertaining stuff from time to time.

Just make sure to always give them cool stuff instead of beating them over the head with offers non stop.

I always give something cool, before I make an offer.

Less on Sundays and Holidays I guess

Do you sell solo ads or are those your promotions?

I don't know with Solo's, if I can make the email unique but guess I can as it's my list and the ad buyer is buying clicks from me list and if my list is responsive then better for him.

My leads ain't have to buy something when they click at a link.

I agree, try to give them more information or entertainment instead of a sales pitch everyday. Maybe a sales pitch a couple times a week. They will look forward to reading your information every day and probably stay longer on the list.

I've been on several lists where the owner blasts it about 8 times a day. I can only assume he/she has a high unsubscribe rate but gets enough subs coming in every day to make up for it.

I personally don't like the "churn and burn" and have been able to sustain the longevity of my list by emailing them every 2-3 days.

      Correct.

My worries are if I can be successful with doing something which I personally don't like.

In other words, I hate getting promo emails each and every day and hardly mail my lists, so how will my ego behave when I'm changing sides and be one of them

I have to create definitely a new list for this

I've heard of people making millions blasting their lists 2 times or more a day.

I suggest, just as you said, to have multiple different lists. Depending on your goals and exactly what you want to do will determine how you segment and treat your lists

The truth is that most people that signup on your list, are usually on more then 10+ email lists as well. You need to make yourself stand out above everybody else and give them a REASON to follow you and unsubscribe from everybody else.

If you have your own products and services that you sell them once you put someone through your sales funnel, if they purchase your product/service you need to segment them and put them on a buyers list. Depending on what kind of product / service you have would depend on how much I would email this list. For instance if you have a list of people that buy WSO's, then I would be emailing them frequently promoting other good WSO's. A lot of people buying WSO are just always looking for the latest an greatest shinny object, so I would put that in front of them just about on a daily basis depending on what new WSO's are being launched.

Although if you had a higher ticket product that you sold them I would then treat that list much differently and really work much more on the relationship as these are the individuals that are spending the higher dollar amounts and are more likely to buy even higher ticket items IF you can show them good value. So these subscribers I would not be sending free offers to everyday to be able to sell solo ads.

The "norm" is that once a subscriber has gone through your sales funnel and follow up series and has not bought from you, these are the individuals that end up getting bombarded with emails. Now there are still other ways to handle these subscribers and still build a relationship with them with some super duper ninja tricks, while selling the traffic from these subscribers to others.

Giving them freebies will condition them to get just that, you need to sell them stuff. remember the 80/20 rule... after 8freebies, sell 2 products.
