Simple Way I Added $3,000 a Month in Ebook sales

I've been selling ebooks since 2001.

If an ebook I have turns out to be a really good seller, I'll find other
ways to monetize it.

One of the easiest ways I've ever come across to increase sales
is to offer the ebook in PRINTED format, so if someone wanted
a hard copy of it, they could get it and bring it around with them.

Now, I used to do this before Kindle was so prevalent, so nowadays
people can get ebooks on their Kindle and bring it with them.

So, offering printed versions of your ebook doesn't quite work
as well as it did before kindle, but believe me... it still works.

If you offer an ebook that solves a particular problem...and there's
also a local offline market in that same niche... here's one thing
that I've done in the past to boost sales of my ebook.

I use 48hrbooks.com and I'll order 100, 200, even 500 copies
of my ebook in printed format.

they come in paperback format and have very nice looking covers.

anyways, what i used to do is bring a stack of these printed books
to my local gyms and ask them if they wanted to make some
easy money by setting these books up on display, to sell.

My printed books used to be mostly in fitness, which is why i'd
go to gyms.

But I'd talk to the gym owner and ask if they'd be willing to
sell my books at their gym, for 50% of the profit.

And in almost every single case, if you present it right, they
will say "Yes"

all they do is set up a stack of your books somewhere visible,
and if someone buys... you split the proceeds with the gym
owner, 50-50.

This used to work so well for me, that once i covered all the
local gyms in my town, I'd go to cities right outside of mine
and do the same thing.

Now, I personally only did this with gyms, but i have a client
who is actually doing it in other local markets.

She sells a book on yoga, so she contacted a few yoga studios
and asked them if they'd be willing to carry her book, and she would
split proceeds 50-50.

again, most say "yes" because it's an easy way to make money,
the owner really doesn't have to do anything.

You just want to make sure you're keeping track of sales, etc...

But think of your local city. Are there local businesses that are
in your market that you could visit and see if they'd be willing
to do a JV partnership?

If your ebook helps with acne, weight loss, back pain, yoga,
getting a job, etc.... just about any topic that also has a local
offline presence.... you may be able to partner up with them.

For me, it was gyms because my ebooks were fitness related.

So i'd leave a stack of my printed books at gyms and split
proceeds, but this can work in any market where your ebook
is in a similar niche as a local business.

Sure, it doesn't quite work as well today as it did when i first
started doing this, because of kindle, but people STILL do like
having a hard copy version to hold in their hands and flip the
pages.

Great idea. I've never seen anyone do that here and I think it would be very easy to sell 2/3 books per day per gym.

I'll probably get some translators to work on a few fitness programs. It helps that nobody is doing that here. Cheers.

Yes, it can actually lead to a hands-off way to make money. most gyms will do it if you point out how it can benefit both their members and them.

The thing is, you can actually do this in any market where you're solving a problem, helping people, AND there's also a local business that is trying to solve the same problem.

Restaurants may offer your printed book on "Best Dining Guide" or attorneys, accountants, therapists who help with depression/anxiety, a chiropractor, etc.

if your ebook solves a problem, and would help out that businesses customers AND earn them a profit in the process, they'll jump at it. but you'll want to present it as BOTH... helping out their clients with valuable info AND helping them earn hands free money.

I have a few yoga studios that sell my yoga booklet and have been thinking of expanding this. How do you keep track of the sales. Do you leave them with owner and then at end of month calculate the number sold and get payment?

That would be the easiest way to control it. Setting up a small consignation contract in which they agree to receive x amount of books worth z and agree to pay you x amount of each issue sold or return the books not sold if you or they want to finish the relationship.

That way they get 20 books, they have to either devolve 20 or pay for the amount which isn't anymore in stock.

To OP, this is a cool idea.

Do you guys in the US or elsewhere need a registration for selling print books (I think it's called IBN) or can you do this without any registrations?
