Attracting video gamer traffic

Hey guys,

I just created a basic new website and am trying to think of different techniques of attracting traffic to it. Would love any ideas or advice.

There's a huge network of gamers, specifically Call of Duty gamers on YouTube, that make a living just posting videos of themselves playing. Some of them receive millions of views and they have millions of subscribers. But most of them put up content and don't receive this much recognition.

My site is simply going to feature a video of the day to help smaller gamers get attention. They'll submit videos and I'll post the best daily (kind of like wimp.com).

My question is how to get these gamers to come to the site and view the content? I will be trying to capture their emails, but how do I get them to visit in the first place?

Thanks for any tips!

I would start by finding those guys on youtube and asking them if they want to be a sponsored video on your site. Tell them they will be the main focus on the page, but i would reccomend starting out for more then a day. Then ask them to provide a link on there youtube page back to your new page to help get there watchers also.

Well if they are monetizing their content on youtube, and they're smaller channels, you'd be helping them grow their audience and income. That's why they may accept your offer. You'd be getting traffic not only from a group effort of all of them placing links to you, but I'd hope you'd be doing your own promotion efforts on the side.

Unless you are going to create videos yourself, it is going to comedown to your ability market your site and basically out SEO the YT channels. Contacting people is a good idea but would be surprised if they take the bait as you are unable to offer any value to them whatsoever other than a link from a site which you have described as basic and simple to produce.

Why not create a few of these videos yourself...I created 190 3* angry birds walkthroughs about 3 months ago just to see how hard it was to do and the videos have now had over 20,000 views.

    Good luck with the site

Have you try the old school method - forum marketing for the game niche?

Keep in mind a huge percentage of call of duty games, particularly ones that upload to YouTube are pretty young, younger than 16. Might be able to target that demographic more specifically for better results.
