I love Twitter. I get new people following me every day! It is fun and a great way to get some extra traffic if you send out links.

I once ran a auction on Ebay that sold the opportunity to follow me on Twitter for $10!

Believe it or not, I had quit a few buyers.

You ar right about that - I have been exploring the nuts and bolts on twitter the last 12 hours and the potential it has to drive traffic to your sites is amazing.

Paul - You really need to start exploring the ways you can use it to send out quick messages to folks that follow you because they are most likely interested in your products or what you have to say - It's almost like having a mini list of 2000 people that are willing to accept quick messages from you.

Steph - It may sound complicated but you can join inless then 3 minutes and then starting sending tweets. Getting folks to follow you isn't that difficult once you start to establish yourself.

Hey Tim,

Yes, I am on Twitter as seen in my sig. Funny I found this thread here as earlier today I saw you were now following me on Twitter. You have been busy in your first day that is for sure.

For those not jumping in on Twitter, just do it. It is a great tool to use, I just have not been on as much as I would like lately because I have been so busy with other stuff outside of IM.

I welcome any new followers... Hint, Hint!

I had a nightmare last night that a giant bird flew in my house and wouldn't leave. Instead of making innocuous bird noises, it kept screaming (in English): "TWITTER ME TWITTER ME YOU WILL TWITTER ME NOW!!!"

I woke in a cold sweat and walked out onto my deck. Then a large Heron flew over and lighted on a tree limb by the lake.

Then I really woke up.

Be careful - I just started following a bunch of people to get them all to follow me - thinking that this was the strategy to get my 1,000 followers to 10,000 followers - however the next thing I noticed my account was suspended for a week

So what is the trick? How do some people have 50,000 followers?

From what I have seen, most of the people that have a large amount of followers have built a reputation elsewhere as well, and not just on twitter.

Twitter was great, but now it is getting spammy...especially thanks to this Bill Crosby Twitter Traffic Machine...I'm about to start filtering who I follow because there are too many selfish Twitterers out there. I even thought about pulling my guide to stop feeding the madness, but then I realized it wouldn't help.

Just promise not to spam Twitter and to use it the right way. Chris Garrett, you rock by the way!

Am a member of twitter and get new followers everyday but i am at loss on how to keep up with it all, i can barely see what some people are posting, i havent flogged my opportunity yet but i assume that is the point to try and get traffic.

Must admit i am sick of the constant check out my site messages after a lame quote from such and such.

Would like to know how others manage it, only people i have really connected to are ones that have sent pm and i have sent back ,at least i can keep track of these.

Download TweetDeck and use it to create groups. Filter your follows into these groups. Works very well up to a certain point.

Twitter can get really cool when you start integrating it with Facebook, your blog, and your other sites.

There are some really cool Twitter WP plugins that do amazing stuff.

I've been on Twitter for about a year now, I think. Didn't start really learning the ropes, though, until late last year.

I usually give pure content with my tweets, and even when I promote something, it's usually free and provides tremendous value.

I mean, look at your audience. If you can send them information on how to better utilize Twitter and do cool things with it, you've got a captive audience!

Twitter is great.

I don't follow to many people who are into Internet Marketing though. Mostly because I do not want to be getting tons of tweets about check out this site, or this blog, or these videos, and have all these people trying to sell to me.

It is like being subscribed to a ton of email lists and having your inbox overloaded with emails trying to sell you stuff.

What you can do is create two accounts.

The first account would be for all the people specifically in IM who you want to follow, or study how they market. (just realize if they are in IM you will get sold to.)

The second account can be for people you are wanting to build relationships with (your customers and friends, family etc.)

Ive signed up to Twitter twice... an forgot my password etc for the 1st one, and I never pay any attention to the new one. Can anyone say that they have made a profit of $1000 or more by using Twitter?

Want some useful Twitter plugins for your WP blog? Go to the WP plugin directory (WordPress › WordPress Plugins) and do a search on twitter.

I recommend "Twitter Tools" and "Tweetmeme" to start. There's even one that'll do a lookup of their Twitter avatars based on their email address when they post comments and post that pic (I forget the plugin...maybe someone else can chime in here)

And check out other blogs that have already implemented some of these plugins. Some are better than others.

On my blog (JohnRitz.com) you can look around and see lots of ways I've integrated Twitter, from retweets to my own Twitter updates.

I'm not shy. I even tell you what I've done and where you can get the plugins.

And there are others out there who dwarf what I've done. It pays to look around. It's a big blogosphere out there, and an even bigger web.

No, I don't think anyone can say that but I have had an increase in traffic which has made people attracted to my related ads. Meaning they are interested more in my site and my ads leading to profit!
