Unfortunately it also seems that you don't need those. I've met many "successful" people who do not have most of your list.

I fear that success is a personal thing and no list will ever apply to everyone as we're all different and have different versions of success.

Where I see an unethical conman - someone else sees a successful Guru.

And where I see a successful entrepreneur, someone else sees an irrelevant person.

Success is in the eye of the beholder.

      Very true.

So, being successful according to your own mantra is the most important aim.

All of life is based on certain core principles, and those who seem to be succeeding from the outside, seem to be successful. Any success built upon principles opposite of these types of principles will only have a temporary shelf life. It's a fact of life.

Some people however can get away with only operating certain principles and by leaving lots of the other great qualities out, but it's rare for that person to have success for the long haul.

Like Honesty. So, I understand where you are coming from Andy. I made this list to point out the positive principles, some of the basic core principles that should be applied. I didn't want to focus on the negative stuff about people who are evil and who get away with gross neglection of these types of principles by manipulation, stealing, greed, and other seflish motivations, by stepping and stomping on others.

        I get that.

I just figured you'd get plenty of those type of responses and maybe not many of the other

No point just saying "yes you're right and why not add Sincerity to your list".

My "anti-crowd mantra" is to avoid your passion and focus on my passion... I'm the one paying you and I don't care about your passion UNLESS it happens to be my passion as well.

You must focus on what I want or I'm not going to pay you.

You might be a health expert, know all about foods and nutrition, but if I'm looking for a big, heavily marbled, steak... You better not waste my time extolling the benefits of soy burgers and veggie cakes.

I like all of the above you mentioned. They all stand for what success means. but one more thing i want to add is:
Don't let the failure keep you down too long, then nobody else will be able to keep you down too long either.

Ray, honestly I believe that this post actually applies to either section, all the principles mentioned will help you earn money over time.

As for the self help section these principles would certainly help someone to shape a better attitude.

Seems like a decent list. Yest success is different for everyone. Not everyone fits in just one box. You have to find what works for you. Also what is your definition of success? That can have a lot to do with it as well.

Just be passionate in what you do and everything follows. If you don't like what you're doing, you won't succeed no matter how hard you try.

I won't consider myself THAT successful yet, but what works for me is finding the right people to help you succeed. For instance, finding the right SEO or link builder for your site. Being able to find a reliable team helped me -- maybe not yet succeed -- but make some progress.
