How much time Have you wasted?

I just wasted 2 Hours watching a sales video and Finally I decided not to buy.

So I was thinking and came up here to ask, How much time have you wasted to pick up and do the right work intended for your success? Like wasting time on Mr.wrong products or anything you'd like to share to help newbies learn and try not to repeat your mistakes.

In my carrier:

1.I wasted 2 years finding out a way to make money, was working for least as PTC sites to pick up pennies.

2.built a website and a blog and never used it further not even advertising on it the right way.

3.Wasted 2 hours a day watching funny peoples and magic tricks on youtube, and honestly, That made me no money.

4.signed up for multiple (200+) money making website and not even concentrated on one.

Looking forward to hear from you guys.

haha Ya will, that was really a time waster but I only watched it because there was a hot lady in the video and I like the software very much. but at last I came to know that it was originally targeting to ebay stuffs which I was not expecting. LOL!

        lol!

But anyway, yes I used to be distracted easily, and go on 9gag, YouTube and all... Until I realized the reason I kept getting distracted was because I have lost sight of my goals.

The moment I decided and worked tirelessly towards creating businesses, only a very small amount of my time was spent on entertainment; and this helped me get much better results!

You can really waste your life away watching sales videos, you think you might need this, or that-as the guy above said: Locate one course of action, stick with it to completion-you will learn a ton and even make some money!

      You have crowned it all.

And i know watching other people's sales video or similar stuff doesn't get me anywhere so i don't even think about it... I can't even bring myself close to watching a 45min video for no exceptional reason.. I guess that's why some fail and woefully too.

You make me remember of the old school days when I used to play PC games all day long, My friends still play it but I don't know what happened to me when I get into this IM thing. I just lost my interest from video games. Now it has become the weekend past time to play COD with my friends online.

I still remember that I thought one day when I begin to make money, I'll make or upgrade my PC to a gaming PC with all the tools needed for gaming. Also Thought that I would Only earn that much needed to get this done and then leave it. but see today, My PC is just the old one and not even a new game joystick installed in it. Spending all money on my business and girls.

      Money changes man.

    Too. Damn. Much.

Whenever I plan on launching a website I get distracted with something else and never get around to the launch.

Don't spend too much time thinking. You will get stuck in the cycle. Just create a simple plan and then start working right away before you get stuck in the over-thinking cycle.

It depends what you consider wasted time.

If your definition is that you've been learning about strategies to make money online, but ultimately not made any during that period, is it really wasted?

It took me 2 years before I started turning a liveable income online. Were those 2 years wasted? Not if you consider it an apprenticeship to your ultimate goal. Mine was to make a liveable income, and now it's happening.

I think many people consider making money online as a quick fix. Logic would tell you it isn't. In what other context can you immediately start making something from nothing unless you have the benefit of experience, resources, luck or are just some sort of genius.

      Just my 2 cents.

Nice said there Alexander, yes learning is the other thing and wasting time is another. We should know what we are doing and what it gonna gives us.

I like to learn new things but learning all your life long doesn't make you money. you have to take action on your specific knowledge to kick start the profit process better than moving up to another charm which guarantees you to make money.

I've experienced that as a human we are more attracted to new subjects and idea thinking about what is there for us, Will it make money faster than the old one? without concentrating on the current facts to take action.

Making money is a result of correct knowledge, efforts, and the right application of it.

reading an ebook, acting on it thoroughly, Use of time.
Reading random ebooks and the next thing you're going to do is buy another one, wastage of time!

Working on your campaign, with some small breaks for entertainment, use of time for more energy.
Working on your campaign, and only you think you're working but doing nothing JUST thinking you got something to do and will do it loosely, Wastage of time.

Walking on the road to your destination, use of time.
Walking on the wrong side of the road, wastage of time.

        This will help newbies, thanks.

You can spend eternity reading and learning new things; however until you don't take action you won't really take a chance to make any money.

I usually compile a list of stuff I want to read, or watch. Then I spend a weekend watching/reading. The bad or repetitive ebooks I skip, and the good ones I watch. Then I sleep on it, and let the new knowledge sink in, and I usually take action on a Tuesday with the best method I read about, or the best tricks/tips I heard.

    Hope that helps

I can't think of anything which would make me want to spend 2 hours watching a sales video.

    My pet hates are:-

    1. videos that wont let you fast forward to get to the punch lines, and
    2. videos which do not have a written transcript which allows me to do the fast forward equivalent with the written word.

I always find plenty of interesting distractions, but fight hard to keep control of my time.

I wasted a lot of time making mistakes. Then, I decided to learn internet marketing. I did everything the wrong way because I was ignorant but too confident.

Then, I had to deal with many unfair attacks while I still was a newbie. I wasted a lot of time correcting mistakes made by my enemies, which affected me. Then, I wasted a lot of time trying to do many things to market my products without managing to beat all the competition I deal with.

I’m glad because now I’m not making mistakes like I did in the beginning, but by visiting this forum and learning a lot more about internet marketing I understood how ridiculous I still am in many points as a business owner who must know internet marketing because I still don't know many things. I’m still making many mistakes.

I’m trying to improve my email messages but never finding time to finally get organized like I should, there are always more important things to do…

Internet marketing is complicated. Those who tell you that everything is easy make you fall into a very deep trap.

I can tell you that I’ve wasted a lot of time in my life in general terms, but on the other hand I also feel that every minute of my life was important and taught me something.

i also watched long sales videos but i don't do anymore because not a SINGLE video actually helped me - it usually just said nothing in a long time. so today i watch a video which might be up to 10 minutes - if at all.

I think u find no one in the world who never spend time like this. A man cannot use to total asset. Some of asset is spent without return, we call "depreciation" in accounting. This is part of investment of waste.

If we call it waste, we will send bad message to the research. Without research longer version betterment is not possible. Research may take time but it will reach u in a safe land where u can move, work, invest. ....., .......,......- everything easily and profitably.

In some sense, everything is part of your evolution as a person, marketer, etc...

If you could reach all of your personal and professional goals in 2 hours, and goal reaching were life's only worthwhile endeavor, then every 2 hour period you spend not reaching your goals is a waste.

But, that's probably not the case.

If you take time to reflect on what you learned during that period of "wasted time", you may have gained some clarification on something that had eluded you, or something you will use in the future.

If you gained nothing else but wisdom, that's SOMEthing.

I wasted more time more than i wish to remember. Primarily i would wake up everyday and browse other people's websites, read their sales letters, modified my sales letter to match theirs, then invest $20 into PPC. Lol of course i got very little traffic, and i had no idea of how to get free traffic (and didnt even want to do free marketing). Good thing those days are over.

You just cannot come into IM world and started earnings 1k+ monthly instantly. It takes at least a year or more to know the "Process". :p

Add one more to that list! For about 6 months I followed almost the exact same routine, and just finally last week decided to choose one thing and stick with it!

I think I have about 6 domains that have nothing on them... A couple of half built websites that lead to nothing. I'm the owner of how many programs and ebooks that I have never even opened.

I guess it's never too late to start though

How about people that are brainwashed by all these things and never bought a single thing from the sellers?

Well, I don't have count of the amount of time I wasted on useless things. I am a perfectionist. I want everything done the way I want, and nothing else would do. I wasted countless hours on plain research. Granted, I learned a lot that way, but if I had spent at least a fraction of that time on just taking pure action, perfection be damned, I'd probably have bought my own house by now.

Oh well, there's no use thinking about things that can't be changed. So, one thing I can advice newbies is, pick something and get to work. Don't worry about whether a method would work or not. Don't wait till you know every nook and corner of that particular method to start doing it.

Learn on the job; that's what I finally decided to do, and it works really well, trust me. Start something, and if you are stuck somewhere, then come back, learn enough to get yourself unstuck and then keep going on.

Learning is good; I still spend time learning new stuff, but now, I make sure my learning time is way less than (only 20% or so) of my doing time.

And, if something does not work out, or if a project does not get you the results you wanted, don't consider it a waste of time. You would have gained valuable experience from it, and that would never go to waste.

For example, I set up 20 blogs in subjects I had zero interest in and spent way more money than I could afford to get content written for those sites (because I had absolutely no interest in those topics), all because I thought they were the best money makers.

I finally gave up on those sites because I couldn't even bring up the interest to edit the articles, but I won't say they were a waste of time. It's a failed project, yes, but it was not a waste of time because I learned a lot from it. I know how to set up blogs in minutes, how to research content for my sites, how to research keywords for my niches, how to promote my sites, and a countless other things because of that one failed projects.

So yeah, as long as you are doing something for your business, you are not wasting your time at all.

Don't beat yourself up about too much. The internet can be a huge time waster once you get caught up in it. I always catch myself drifting off on different thoughts.

When it comes to IM I also have ADD about it and I want to try a million things. The best advice I can give you is to FORCE yourself to focus on one traffic source and one method until you make it work.

For example, lets say you want to do PoF ads, well... don't stop until you are profitable. Sure you might lose money in the beginning but that is nothing compared to the amount you lose jumping from one thing to other all the time. Some people never break that cycle.
