I just wasted 2 Hours watching a sales video and Finally I decided not to buy.

So I was thinking and came up here to ask, How much time have you wasted to pick up and do the right work intended for your success? Like wasting time on Mr.wrong products or anything you'd like to share to help newbies learn and try not to repeat your mistakes.

In my carrier:

1.I wasted 2 years finding out a way to make money, was working for least as PTC sites to pick up pennies.

2.built a website and a blog and never used it further not even advertising on it the right way.

3.Wasted 2 hours a day watching funny peoples and magic tricks on youtube, and honestly, That made me no money.

4.signed up for multiple (200+) money making website and not even concentrated on one.

Looking forward to hear from you guys.

    • You have crowned it all.

And i know watching other people's sales video or similar stuff doesn't get me anywhere so i don't even think about it... I can't even bring myself close to watching a 45min video for no exceptional reason.. I guess that's why some fail and woefully too.
      • [ 1 ] Thanks
    • Yes. haha.
They will just brainwash you with their thoughts.

As and advise, why don't you rely on your skill? I mean, work online, earn money and live mature. Lastly, please don't watch kids stuff. I think you're not a kid anymore. You better have perform some money making.
  • Wasted a lot of time when i was still young playing video games.

Now i consider playing video games as a reward once i finished my "Must get done" tasks for the day.

    Cheers,

    • You make me remember of the old school days when I used to play PC games all day long, My friends still play it but I don't know what happened to me when I get into this IM thing. I just lost my interest from video games. Now it has become the weekend past time to play COD with my friends online.

I still remember that I thought one day when I begin to make money, I'll make or upgrade my PC to a gaming PC with all the tools needed for gaming. Also Thought that I would Only earn that much needed to get this done and then leave it. but see today, My PC is just the old one and not even a new game joystick installed in it. Spending all money on my business and girls.

      Money changes man.
  • The more you watch such videos, the more you read stuff, the more you buy stuff and read them, the more you will waste time.

Take one course of action, plan about it and implement.

Experience is the best education one can get.
    • [ 4 ] Thanks
  • I normally take decision after reviewing about the product and company online.Rather than watching the video for hours.

I watched a lot of videos/tutorials, then decided not to go through with what they offer. Is not necessarily a waste of time or at least I don't consider it. It's good to know what else it out there, I think.

    • Yes I was a victim to the "magic button" syndrome for years.. some products are good but you can "honestly" find everything you need to know here for free..
      • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • Wasted lots of time browsing and browsing and browsing....
Self discipline is a hard skill to master heh

  • Too. Damn. Much.

Whenever I plan on launching a website I get distracted with something else and never get around to the launch.

Don't spend too much time thinking. You will get stuck in the cycle. Just create a simple plan and then start working right away before you get stuck in the over-thinking cycle.

    • It depends what you consider wasted time.

If your definition is that you've been learning about strategies to make money online, but ultimately not made any during that period, is it really wasted?

It took me 2 years before I started turning a liveable income online. Were those 2 years wasted? Not if you consider it an apprenticeship to your ultimate goal. Mine was to make a liveable income, and now it's happening.

I think many people consider making money online as a quick fix. Logic would tell you it isn't. In what other context can you immediately start making something from nothing unless you have the benefit of experience, resources, luck or are just some sort of genius.

      Just my 2 cents.

    • good one, haha. well it was video series about features on the product and I watched it in breaks but yes approx 1 hour of videos and a research.

And yes I also learned something. how to waste your time more than you should waste on it!

  • You can spend eternity reading and learning new things; however until you don't take action you won't really take a chance to make any money.

I usually compile a list of stuff I want to read, or watch. Then I spend a weekend watching/reading. The bad or repetitive ebooks I skip, and the good ones I watch. Then I sleep on it, and let the new knowledge sink in, and I usually take action on a Tuesday with the best method I read about, or the best tricks/tips I heard.

    Hope that helps
  • Make research. Find reputable coach. Stick to his program and be focused. Forget about all other offers until you get the results you want. Good luck!
  • instead of thinking that you wasted your time, think of it as learning from your experience.
there is always a lesson in everything that we do.
  • I can't think of anything which would make me want to spend 2 hours watching a sales video.

    My pet hates are:-

    1. videos that wont let you fast forward to get to the punch lines, and
    2. videos which do not have a written transcript which allows me to do the fast forward equivalent with the written word.

I always find plenty of interesting distractions, but fight hard to keep control of my time.

    • I think warriorforum has saved many marketers lives.
  • I must have wasted about 2 months of my life because of watching sales videos that i clearly wasen't going to buy, I get side-tracked easily these days.
  • I cannot stand the sales pages with just a video on it. Give the video and a written sales page. Sometimes I just don't want to listen to watch a video and would rather read.
  • 2 hours?!?!?!?

    crazy!
  • Just think of how much more time you're going to be wasting watching this thread.

  • oh my, i waisted so much time on researching and understanding IM so i´m one of those ladies who tries to now teach it better in an all in one course ;-)
i also watched long sales videos but i don't do anymore because not a SINGLE video actually helped me - it usually just said nothing in a long time. so today i watch a video which might be up to 10 minutes - if at all.
one day i even unsubscribed from all sites because i was so so sick of all these things.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks

    • Researching, Learning and understanding is not a waste of time but to make the most of it. It is when you do not make good use of it for your success. That 10 minutes may worth your time I wish.
    • I like to take your course, how it is possible, Mam?

  • The honesty is refreshing! Many people would have you believe that's all you have to do to make money.
  • In some sense, everything is part of your evolution as a person, marketer, etc...

If you could reach all of your personal and professional goals in 2 hours, and goal reaching were life's only worthwhile endeavor, then every 2 hour period you spend not reaching your goals is a waste.

But, that's probably not the case.

If you take time to reflect on what you learned during that period of "wasted time", you may have gained some clarification on something that had eluded you, or something you will use in the future.

If you gained nothing else but wisdom, that's SOMEthing.
  • None of us are masters of our time, and we all find ourselves victims to it.

Just try the best you can, but remember, to have some fun.

  • I wasted more time more than i wish to remember. Primarily i would wake up everyday and browse other people's websites, read their sales letters, modified my sales letter to match theirs, then invest $20 into PPC. Lol of course i got very little traffic, and i had no idea of how to get free traffic (and didnt even want to do free marketing). Good thing those days are over.
  • Sorry, i wouldn`t waste those 2 hours watching a sales video. I would rather enjoy the spare time
  • Personally wasted 2 years. Heck! Other than wasting my time, I have been wasting money too.. Trying to get my hands on those next shining stuffs on clickbank.

    • Huh!! I never thought of making money online seriously but wondered about the ads that promises you the "moon".

So I started being active on forums and stuffs and came to know a lot of online stuffs. I don't consider it time wasted but Time learned.

You just cannot come into IM world and started earnings 1k+ monthly instantly. It takes at least a year or more to know the "Process". :p
  • Sounds really similar lol Except 7 months compared to your 2 years. Both are a lot of time wasted and it's true procrastination is a huge problem.
    • [1] reply
    • Add one more to that list! For about 6 months I followed almost the exact same routine, and just finally last week decided to choose one thing and stick with it!

I think I have about 6 domains that have nothing on them... A couple of half built websites that lead to nothing. I'm the owner of how many programs and ebooks that I have never even opened.

I guess it's never too late to start though
      • [ 1 ] Thanks

  • i started learning about 'make money online' 5years ago, when you don't have a mentor you are bound to waste alot of time!!
  • I've wasted 6 years working 9-5 in a job I hate just because everyone around me told be that's the only way to go.
  • Well, I don't have count of the amount of time I wasted on useless things. I am a perfectionist. I want everything done the way I want, and nothing else would do. I wasted countless hours on plain research. Granted, I learned a lot that way, but if I had spent at least a fraction of that time on just taking pure action, perfection be damned, I'd probably have bought my own house by now.

Oh well, there's no use thinking about things that can't be changed. So, one thing I can advice newbies is, pick something and get to work. Don't worry about whether a method would work or not. Don't wait till you know every nook and corner of that particular method to start doing it.

Learn on the job; that's what I finally decided to do, and it works really well, trust me. Start something, and if you are stuck somewhere, then come back, learn enough to get yourself unstuck and then keep going on.

Learning is good; I still spend time learning new stuff, but now, I make sure my learning time is way less than (only 20% or so) of my doing time.

And, if something does not work out, or if a project does not get you the results you wanted, don't consider it a waste of time. You would have gained valuable experience from it, and that would never go to waste.

For example, I set up 20 blogs in subjects I had zero interest in and spent way more money than I could afford to get content written for those sites (because I had absolutely no interest in those topics), all because I thought they were the best money makers.

I finally gave up on those sites because I couldn't even bring up the interest to edit the articles, but I won't say they were a waste of time. It's a failed project, yes, but it was not a waste of time because I learned a lot from it. I know how to set up blogs in minutes, how to research content for my sites, how to research keywords for my niches, how to promote my sites, and a countless other things because of that one failed projects.

So yeah, as long as you are doing something for your business, you are not wasting your time at all.
  • wasted my first 3 years.. Was looking for that "best" method without actually put it on practice... and yeahh, those WSOs...
  • Don't beat yourself up about too much. The internet can be a huge time waster once you get caught up in it. I always catch myself drifting off on different thoughts.

When it comes to IM I also have ADD about it and I want to try a million things. The best advice I can give you is to FORCE yourself to focus on one traffic source and one method until you make it work.

For example, lets say you want to do PoF ads, well... don't stop until you are profitable. Sure you might lose money in the beginning but that is nothing compared to the amount you lose jumping from one thing to other all the time. Some people never break that cycle.
