Clickbank message: not authorized to promote product???

Hi Gang

There's a diet product on CB I've promoted for quite some time, but I checked a link I have going from an ebook, and then the browser gave the following message:

This link was created by an affiliate of the ClickBank network who is not authorized to promote this product.

I've gone into my CB account to see if there are any agreements I need to accept, but can't see anything obvious. Any ideas troops??

Cheers
Phil

I have never had or heard of such problem.

Have you tried to generate a new hop link?

If it is still not working, maybe you are flagged as an affiliate doubtful or something wrong with the vendor or product.

It is best to contact Clickbank support to see if there is anything wrong.

It sounds like the Vendor set up a White List which means affiliates need to be manually added to the White List in order to promote the product. You'll need to contact the vendor.

Thanks Jeffrey, I've just looked in cbengine.com and it seems like the product was pulled from CB this year....oh well. Thanks for your help.

Even if it is not listed in the marketplace it does not mean it has been discontinued.

If it no longer exists you would get the error message "Unable to find destination"

So Miles has given you the correct answer

Do Clickbank or the vendor inform affiliates if they are in a "blacklist" ? If affiliates are using paid traffic, then they are wasting their money unless they check their links from time to time. I would think affiliates should be informed !

It would be up to the individual vendor to inform affiliates - however at best they will only have the contact information for affiliates they have signed up as opposed to those who get the hoplink from the Marketplace.

That means those who have the hop link from Clickbank (did not sign up with the vendor), the vendor will NOT have their contact email ?

I think Clickbank should find a way to inform the affiliates rather than through the vendor.

              Thanks !

As Miles pointed out, Clickbank DOES allow vendors to set up products
where ONLY certain approved affiliates are allowed to promote the
product. If you come across such a product, and set up a hoplink,
I imagine it could work for a while... I'm not sure, but it sounds like
that may be what you ran into.

I've worked with numerous merchants who wanted to really screen
their affiliates before hand... to protect their brand image, and to
only have affiliates that they are 100% comfortable with, selling their
    products.

I did receive a message from a Clickbank on behalf of a vendor once, which to me looked like a blanket e-mail sent to all affiliates who had promoted the product (not sure the specific criteria). Granted, when this same vendor went out of business a year later, I did not receive a similar message informing me of this. I only knew because sales abruptly stopped.

I guess the program itself is blacklisted from CB not just the particular affiliates ..I see this code on all hop links "restricted.html?errCode=blacklisted&cbhopvendor=. ....."
