SOCKS - weirdest membership site ever?

I just came across this membership subscription site that sells socks!

Prices start at $89 for 9 pairs delivered over a year.

You might think this mad but they have over 60,000 active customers in 74 countries!

You can check it out here: Sockscription | Subscription of Men's Socks, Underwear & Tees from BlackSocks.com (not an affiliate link!)

And there was me wondering if anyone would be willing to subscribe to my membership site idea.

Definitely money to be made in continuity programs.

Have you come across a weirder idea for a membership site? If so let us know.

I think a Groceries Subscription would be awesome. Pay $XXX per month and have groceries delivered weekly with pre-structured meal plans, snacks, etc. based off of your likes. Talk about saving time.

I can do this through any supermarket in my area. We also have Pink Dot in Southern California that will deliver anything we want (groceries, fast food, socks)

I've seen a variety of grocery subscriptions - such as weekly home delivery of fresh organic veggies.

That sounds good... But I would need some Chips, Salsa, Steak, Hamburger Helper, Chicken, Brownies, and Ice Cream thrown in.

Would purchase subscription without thinking twice... OR a membership site for local Laundry Pick-up, Washing, Folding, and Dropping Off.

RFLOL! I have that in Denver. The 100 year old Victorian has 6 tenants and NO laundry. He picks up every other Friday and delivers back the following Saturday.

It is not the best way to go when you are focusing all your marketing efforts on products that pay you a one time commission. I thought like that for years and it got me now where.

It is just as easy to generate sales on products that pay you each month from the same customers as it is on products that pay you a one time commission.

Many marketers think that their customers will not be willing to get themselves on a monthly membership auto-ship and they are wrong.

There are some systems like that in place already functioning here in Canada and in the US. They send you your groceries on complete auto-pilot each week or month.

Yes - if you get over 60,000 subscribers for socks at those prices you can probably do a membership site on almost anything.

One of the best Subscriptions I have ever purchased was here on the Warrior Forum. It was a $197/mo subscription that gave me unlimited Graphics for websites, mini-sites, landing pages, etc. It was excellent, and I literally powered the graphics-side of my service business with it. I Love continuity programs.

John Evans, a fellow Warrior from the U.K, wrote about this site in
his ebook, Success Alert, released back in 2004. Since John was
a relative unknown on the forum, I helped him to roll out the
ebook, convincing our own Allen Says to be the first affiliate to
    promote it

If you Google "allan gardyne + john evans" you can read all of
the reviews on that ebook from back in 2004. I actually printed
about 80 copies of that ebook and FedEx'ed the to potential
affiliates... with about 95% of them ending up promoting it and
    making me lots of money

Anyway, John interviewed the Owner of BlackSocks.com for his
ebook, covering all aspects of his business. It was a very
informative interview. He interviewed other people with fairly
unusual internet businesses and membership sites.

Thanks Willie - that shows that although it appears a crazy idea it does have longevity as a business.

Thank you for sharing the idea. I like the fact that he plays on the embarrassment factor to explain the need for his product.

"The two socks did not match. Worse yet, Samy’s big toe was sticking out of the faded fabric. There was a large hole in the right sock. "

Clearly seems to be an embarrassing situation to be in when you have to remove the foot from the shoes in public.

The boxershort comment actually sparked an idea of mine..

How about targetting underwear for women??

A low monthly fee and a pair a knickers every month - Just pay the fee and enter your size, your preferred type of underwear.

A perfect opportunity for the women who wants to spice up the bedroom with something new each month..
    - Additional packages could contain various toys, for him and her..

    - Tons of options in that category.. Anyone remember Victorias Secret??

Or how about decreasing sizes over a few months as a motivation for a weight loss program?

i Love subscription sites. I've had two or three of them through the years. Nothing is better if you can maintain it

sad part for me, Paypal was the main processor for these and they have been problematic for me in recent years. None the less, I actually have a subscription going now.

You can turn almost anything into a subscription service. I wouldn't look at selling socks as being stable, but running a subscription business for it definitely would be.

How about a condom delivery service for singles every week a new pack delivered thursday I would bet some under 20 boys would get the service and after a year have a huge pile of unused condoms and still not unsubscribe from the service...
