My first 100 subscribers came through solo ads. It took me a long time to get there because I was a newbie and just figuring out what worked and what didn't but it was a great milestone to reach.

The first time I tried solo ads I received subscribers the fastest. It was nice to see the notifications queued in my email inbox.

My first 100 subscribers all came from paid media such as pay per click.

I used Yahoo PPC back in 2006 and that is how I got my first 100 subscribers.

I don't build a list anymore but if I wanted to get my first 100 people onto my list nowadays, I would be able to get them all through FREE marketing and not a single penny will be spent on ads.

I got mine a few months into building my site. I got around half of them from solo ads and the other half was traffic from my Facebook fan page which converted quite well surprisingly. Most of my recent subscribers are coming from the page too.

All combined of course & I think I tried some Craigslist
ads too and got few subs from there also.

Great post by the way as this can give those who are

I read Perry Marshall's book and set-up a PPC campaign and invested $300.00. Within two weeks I had 120 subscribers. A few week after that I made my money back and some more. I was lucky!

My main objective now is to build lists of RESPONSIVE subs which is a challenge in its self.

I totally agree Les... I got my first 100 subscribers through solo ads, the only problem is that majority of them were already on so many lists, they were already burnt and dead!

After I had a small list, I would use ad-swaps from safe swaps (make sure you find a reputable person to trade with)

But a Responsive list is definitely the way to go it seems these days

and I've never looked back

If it takes you longer than a couple months, you've picked the wrong niche or aren't marketing correctly.

I got my first 100 subscribers by creating a series of videos in exchange for the signup. Still running it.

I foolishly used facebook ads to get mine in a non-IM niche. I say foolishly because I didn't understand exactly how to place FB ads, and I'm too embarrassed to repeat here exactly how much they cost. But it was far more than I ever made from that squeeze page.

My first 100 subscribers was on a console repair site I have... took about 2 weeks from the date of setting up the site.

Of course had I done this earlier, instead of direct linking to the affiliate sales page I was using, then I would probably have a massive list.

However, my console list is rubbish in terms of buying things because its probably 90% teenagers who want stuff for free. I just keep it going as a "pride" thing.

When I first started list building I got 900 on my list in 60 days. And then went to 13,000 in 90 days then 60,000 in less than 180 days.

My first 2000 subscribers came from promoting my ebook (mainly through affiliates) who did not buy on the first visit, but signed up to my list to get a free chapter of the ebook. From there I went on to sign up more than 20,000 more...now many of my subscribers come from my blog as well.

Didn't take me long. It was during the summer after 1st semester of college. I had a job, so i would invest like crazy into PPC, and was getting around 30-50 leads per day. I didnt know what i was doing, but i loved the results. Didn't realize later though that all of my "real" money would come from backend sales... wish i knew that earlier before i started losing so much money on advertising lol.

Believe it or not Adf.ly three years ago. The traffic wasn't really that junky. I followed that list building automation program. Excellent course on list building and oto ! but I didn't have an OTO though ... Now I wish I would have had it. !

I started with just my ramblings of making money online. That list was well over 100 strong within an hour. That was back in the day when we did not have blogs. We used to post here, but that had to changes for different reasons.

I did it through solos, and other paid ads, and buying media buys on highly traffic blogs.

Plus I worked my ass off doing free traffic, articles, these days I have the financial backign to buy up big lots of media and ppc. This is what I believe to be the fastest and highest quality subscribers on your list.
