I've learnt that blog comments are great ways to get traffic. Please tell me in detail about the process. Does the method work for you?

I have a little experience with blog commenting. I'm about to take it up to a whole new level. My thoughts are when I used to do it, I didn't really care about the niches I was in and I really didn't care about building a relationship with the blog owner. I just wanted traffic.

I think if you have a legit blog that you run and update and keep current, I don't believe in this blog daily thing, but you update it at least twice a month, and you talk about what you're interested in with other bloggers, it can open the doors to bigger and better things, plus give you that tiny residual blog comment traffic to sweeten the pot.

I think if you do this right it can actually be a big breakthrough. But maybe I will eat my words in 60 days because I'm just about to launch a blog and work like hell. Maybe someone with more experience can share theirs. That would be great.

I have read so many times about the method but have never found it working for me. So, I was just wondering if it is really effective or am I just doing something wrong.

Yeah it works great for me in all niches.

Make a really insightful and relevant comment (better if you're the first to comment) where you address the author by name and butter them up by saying how good their blog is then at the bottom of your comment leave a link to your site or link to a relevant article on your own blog and ask the author for freedback.

It can certainly be a good source of traffic. And perhaps even more importantly, a good source of relationship-building, too. As long as you always add value with your comments, today's comment can be tomorrow's guest post.

These threads may be just about what you're looking for.

Totally agree with Alexa, remember blog commenting should be about more than just the traffic.

Build yourself a community of Internet guardians who will keep you alert to changes in your common areas of interest and they will in turn to look to you for your updates.

Everyone wants to be part of a community so go out and build your own perfect one

set up your google alerts to your main keyword.

Have it send you daily emails to your gmail with the results.

Comment on the blogs that the GAs give you.

    Add insightful and useful comments.

These days most blogs if not all have the nofollow tag on comment links so you are doing this not so much for rankings but rather to siphon off niche related traffic to your site.

That being said, if you do want to do some link sculpting with blog comments then you could always target comment luv blogs with a search string.

POP this into google with your niche keyword and rock out! remember always leave VALUE!

As long as you always add value to these blogs, you should be OK. But.......

Most blogs out there no longer allow their readers to just add comments automatically. Most of them require to moderate all new posts so there is no guarantee that your comments will get posted.

Blog commenting are not for traffic as far as I know. You can use proper blog commenting for getting good backlinks.

Traffic should be the primary purpose of blog commenting.

By adding value to the sites on which you post, you can interest their readers directly, who will click on your link without the need for your site to rank well at all.

This way you're getting far more targeted and responsive traffic than you're going to get through Google.

The relationship-building aspect of blog commenting can also be very helpful. Sometimes it can lead to guest blogging opportunities, which can be even more beneficial.

It's true that they're good backlinks, too, because they're on sites whose context is relevant to your own (if you choose the right ones!), but this should be merely a very indirect afterthought, by comparison. Reading through the threads listed in post #6 above may widen your perspectives a little, if you're ready for that!

All backlinks can bring you is some (eventual, precarious, often temporary) search engine traffic, anyway. It's all about traffic, however you look at it. You don't earn money just from "ranking well" - only through that generating traffic; the reality is that there's much better traffic available than that, and blog commenting is one of the ways to attract it.

It really depends on the type of comments you post.

Spamming blogs with "oMg GreaAAt PosttsW!111!" won't get you anywhere.

You need to make educated comments about the article. Read the article then take mental notes of the key points in the article and then write your opinion about each point. Of course, you don't want your comment to sound like a essay. Just keep things short, sweet, and detailed.

Blog comments are the great source of direct traffic. In any niche there are hundreds of blogs, so commenting on various blogs with informative posts increases the chance of traffic for you blog.

As long as you are not spamming, and are posting super-high quality comments on similar blogs within your niche that get insane amounts of traffic.

Almost everything that's been said is true. So lots of information to take away there. The only thing I'd add is that, for me, the traffic is only there while you yourself are blog commenting. The moment I stopped blog hopping, the extra traffic stopped. So for me, I couldn't make it a long term solution to getting extra targeted traffic, simply because it's very time intensive.

If anyone can tell me how the traffic won't dry up the minute I stop commenting, Id love to hear it... Please

Always remember to give the blog owner credit - you are using their site and traffic so be thankful for it. Encourage people to comment and interact as you'll be helping the owner.

Blog commenting is a legit method for generating traffic, but you have to do it in pretty high volume to see good results. Plus, it's not just about the quantity. You are doing yourself, and the site owner, an injustice if you are not providing real quality in your blog comments.

    Hi Kingshad,

Here is a simple process you can use:

    1. Set up your alerts at Google Alerts

    2. Type in "quotes" your keywords you are looking for in order to find blogs that you can comment on (the more targeted the better)

    3. Select - "Discussions" "As It Happens" "All Results" then your email

    4. Depending on the size of your market you should start seeing blogs that
you can comment on right away.

Remember that these are super targeted & as they happen so you
have the chance of posting comments that are targeted, you can get
in first and start driving traffic back to your own sites in no time.

Make sure that your comments are quality & that you add to the blog
post(s) etc so that you are looking to help others who are reading the posts/comments
and can benefit from your added input.

    Don't EVER EVER SPAM THEM!

It's not worth it & your comment won't be approved anyway.

Blog commenting is a great way to send bucket loads of highly targeted
traffic back to your business as long as you do it right.

Hope this helps and have a great day my friend!

    Regards
    Gavin

I personally feel like the only way for blog commenting to make an impact is treat other people's blogs with respect.

First of all find a good quality blog in your niche. Legitimately read the post and add value to it with your comment. Only post something that you would WANT on your blog. Be sure to be an avid reader of that blog and continually add informative and useful comments. The goal is to build a relationship with the blog owner as well other readers.

People will see you as a source of knowledge and hopefully check out your blog. Additionally, this could open the door to guest blogging opportunities with the blog owner.

It works well for me. I do it all the time. The gist of it is to find an active blog in your niche, and leave helpful and insightful posts after each new blog post. DON'T leave comments like "good info", "just what i was looking for", "buy my new air jordans", etc. If you own a cheesecake online business, don't blog comment on internet marketing blogs. Instead, leave blog comments on cheesecake blogs, bakery blogs, or a blog that is relevant to what you are selling.

Blog comments and forum participation work well for traffic however you have to target blogs very relevant to your niche otherwise you will be viewed as spam and deleted quite fast.

As long as you don't look like a spammer. Meaning give value to your comments, share an idea, critic, or just give your thoughts. Don't sound like someone looking for links.

It most definitely works, both as a source of traffic and for building connections with other bloggers.

The way I do it is I have a folder with bookmarks to lots of blogs that are updated regularly. I take some time to open a few blogs each in a new tab and then go through them one by one. If there is a post that I feel that I can contribute to then I will leave a comment. If I don't feel that I can add anything of value then I close that tab and move on. I actually made a video tutorial on my blog a few weeks ago that outlines this approach.

As has already been said, you absolutely have to leave comments of value, something contributes to the post. Spam comments or 1 sentence "thanks for the post" type comments will never do you any favours. It's like the old adage, "If you can't say anything good, don't say anything at all". The same should apply to blog commenting

Agreed. And it basically comes down to posting something that you'd approve on YOUR own blog. That's how I've always looked at it.

Yes, it works for me. I don't do it for back linking I do it for traffic. I get about 30% of my traffic from blog comment referrals

The key is, actually go for blogs you are interested in, read the article and leave an interesting interactive comment.

I've found the best technique is to find authority blogs in your niche, at least one or two, and become a regular. If it's a highly traffic site, you'll see traffic back to your site (assuming you leave something worth reading).

The key is picking blogs that already get a ton of comments and engagement. That's where you'll be more likely to get some traffic for yourself. You got to think of it more in terms of building relationships.

You can also use comment luv to get some links back to your site. I'd recommend making sure your latest post has a catchy title (maybe even a call to action) and hit up every comment luv blog you can in your niche.

Here are some search operators to help you along the way:
    keyword +”Commentluv Enabled”
    keyword +”Enable Commentluv”
    keyword & “title=”CommentLuv Enabled”"

Blog commenting doesn’t work for me because I usually disagree with what most people write about my main niches. Besides that, reading blog posts and writing intelligent comments is too time consuming.

This method works when you can find many blogs with high traffic about the topics you care about and whey you can agree with the blog owner. It doesn’t work for everyone.

I often do, as well. I think that can sometimes work in your favour, though, from the blog-owner's perspective: controversy attracts interest, comment and even traffic. There's always a dividing line to be negotiated, admittedly, between contrarian opinions and confrontation. I agree that it can be time-consuming, certainly, if well done.
