How often should you post to your facebook page?

Please bear in mind that only 10 - 15% of people who have liked your page will ever see your posts, so it will be pretty difficult to get annoying.

It's vital you keep in the forefront of your customers mind, so I recommend doing a minimum of 2 - 4 posts a day on your page.

Plus promoting at least one of those posts every day using the page post ad feature.

Obviously you only want to promote unless you have a backend funnel with a product as you want all your advertising to be an investment not a cost.

But the key here is to create amazing content that your fans want to engage with and getting it out to them as effectively as possible!

Jo Barnes is right. I saw an article on it a while back and thought I'd had it bookmarked, but apparently not. Otherwise I'd share it here.

Essentially though, only a small percentage of your Facebook audience will see your posts. Social media moves at lightning speed in real time and the name of the game is engagement. The higher your engagement, the more Facebook will show your posts to your peeps. So you want to get your peeps to engage and interact with you.

Posting 3-5 times a day is a good rule of thumb. (I still struggle to post once a day sometimes though!)

Of course, if you have a Facebook business page, you're presumably hoping to make money with it. However, just like e-mail, you can't just bombard your peeps with "buy my stuff!" posts all day long. You'll end up shooting yourself in the foot.

Lead with value first. The same 80/20 rule applies: 80% of your posts should offer value and only about 20% should be promotional. Out of the 80%, a good portion of those should be personal and interactive. Ask a question. Post a quiz. Post some trivia questions. Share stories and pictures of your pets/kids. (Those posts always get a lot of traction!) Be careful with it, but post humorous pictures/stories.

To at least get the ball rolling, promote some of your posts. That will get your posts seen by a lot more of your peeps. If you're just starting a Facebook page or still have a very low "like" count, do a "like" ad campaign to boost your likes.

For the longest time, I really struggled with the idea of paying Facebook to increase my Facebook likes. Essentially, I'm paying Facebook to grow THEIR biz! Arrrghh! I care much more about growing my own list than just growing my Facebook likes. Like's aren't leads in my database or sales.

But then my business coach made a comment that changed my entire perspective: We were talking about joint ventures and getting JV partners. She commented that while partners still want to know the size of your list, it's not quite as important as it used to be. People can easily check out the size of your social media audience and that DOES influence their decisions. She said that once your audience goes above 5,000, people start to approach YOU for joint ventures.

Well, that changed my whole perspective and I decided that I'd pay to grow my Facebook audience. So I've invested in a couple of Facebook training courses which you can see here:

When promoting a post or doing a Facebook ad, don't just promote them willy-nilly. Make sure you only spend money for a very specific goal. In the beginning, that might mean just building up your FB audience to the first 1,000. After that, you might ONLY promote posts that either build your list and/or lead to a sales page or sales presentation (webinar, for example).

Occasionally promote posts with questions, polls, surveys, quizzes, etc. to build your engagement, which will encourage Facebook to show your posts to a wider audience.

For me, I have a page that still has a very small audience. So I'm focusing on ads and posts that increase my likes and/or increase engagement. Once I'm beyond that initial 1,000, I'll mostly focus on promoting posts and ads that build my list and/or lead people to a teleseminar/webinar.

Yeh I say you might as well start promoting some right away. A friend of mine made the mistake of not wanting to put a single promotional post and wait to start monitizing his pages after he got a million likes first.

And now after a year of building a couple pages that each had over 300,000 likes, they both got hacked and stolen from him and he can't get them back. Looks like one was even deleted.

You never know with fb and social media how secure and long lasting your pages and efforts are going to be. So might as well strike a balance in the beggining to promote things so even if you lose them it won't have been for nothing.

I post around 3 times a day. Usually always 3 hours apart because Facebook Edge system tends to choose only one post from any page to display in people feeds in any 3 hour period. So posting quicker than that is a bit pointless and could be considered spam.

Best time is usually around 7pm North American central time. I forget what you guys call it there.
