Have You Or Your Visitors Ever Gotten This Message As A ClickBank Affiliate

This link was created by an affiliate of the ClickBank network who is not authorized to promote this product. Click here to continue on to the pitch page.
I found it strange when I received this message when clicking on one of my affiliate links as to my knowledge authorization was/is not needed to promote products on Clickbank and I had been promoting the product for quite a while putting a lot of time and expense into it without there being an issue. But upon further investigation discovered that the program had been retired anyway. In fact, I even more or less set up a blog largely centered around selling this particular product.

I haven't seen that message before but apparently quite a few other people have: http://www.google.com/search?q="affiliate+of+the+ClickBank+network+who+i s+not+authorized"

Contact the product vendor and ask about it. You're not getting credit for any sales from that link. You might need to be manually approved by the vendor.

Do you mean that the product no longer exists, or has the affiliate program for that been retired / made private?

I wonder how widespread this problem is, because a Google search points to instances that go back to 2010/2011.

I noticed that message just once on an item I used to promote in the past (the item still exists and does not require a white list). But when I clicked on the hoplink again then it went through as expected.

Wonder if it's a glitch of some kind. It would be annoying sending visitors to your hoplink that way and sales not getting registered -- or worse -- getting redirected to the vendor's pitch page.

Retired as in the vendor is no longer offering that product and now has the old sales page set up to redirect to a new product that is not apart of an affiliate network. This is a way for them to get rid of affiliates and no longer have to pay them, but at the same time draw traffic from unsuspecting affiliates who are still promoting the discontinued product without realizing it. They are sending visitors to the redirected website where only the vendor benefits in the event of a sale. What really irked me is I once set up an entire blog and a domain to promote a particular product and that product is no more.

It is sometimes, Jon: vendors can elect to "white-list" affiliates, if they wish. (I'm not suggesting that's what had happened in the instance to which you refer).

Yes, it can be. One has to select one's vendors carefully, always contact them, and stay aware of "what's occurring": http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ml#post2161932

In your case, you would need to contact the product owner. If they don't reply back in 2-3 days, just add another product. I know that it does not make sense but you are losing money at the same time and should not promote that for them if you are not going to get credited for the sale.

On another note and a little off subject, in the past few weeks I have taken a look at some of the products that I used to promote for clickbank products. Some of them no longer exist and the only thing you can do is to find other similar products that are working and direct your traffic there.

Ya that's the risk you run of doing evergreen affiliate promotions... you don't control the sales process so sometimes it's tough to deal with vendors who shuffle around their products or discontinue sites or wtv. In your case it seems the product is still live so I would just contact the vendor and see what's up and if they don't answer just move on.
