Check your Solo Ad provider

Before making any purchases with your solo ad provider, please ask them point blank, "Are your clicks coming through a Paid To Click Service?" If they are honest they will tell you yes if they are. What happens is Paid to Click (PTC) providers will pay their users 1 cent to 5 cents per click, well if you are paying them 40 cents to 45 cents per click, their margins are huge! You will notice your conversion rates will be lower than normal as well, or the Solo Ad provider will also have them register on your site.

Just FYI...

You always have to track things. Every solo ad that you buy from someone, track to see if it converts.

Once you pay for the ad, see what kinds of results you are getting. If you are not happy, don't work with them anymore.

The OP is suggesting a preventive measure so that people don't gamble and lose that payment.

From experience I wouldn't pay for anything unless I have full details of where clicks are coming from.

This fraud is rampant in the solo ad industry. It's why this thread has only 1 other reply. Where are all of the solo ad sellers? Why haven't they burst into this thread like they do any other solo ad thread? lol

If you want to protect yourself, sign up for some newsletters and read them for awhile. Keep an eye on things. See if any stand out as taking care of their readers. Those are the ones you want to buy spots from. You'll probably have to contact them about buying. They certainly won't be seen trolling forums looking for buyers.

Get a hard link in the newsletter. Don't let them push the traffic through a script. That link should go directly from the email to your site. Write your own ad for them to publish. Under no circumstances should they be writing the ad for you.

And don't expect a guarantee of clicks. If they are guaranteeing clicks it could be a sign they are buying PPC traffic that gets shut off after your threshold is met (they may over deliver to make things seem real).

Do not forget to ask for their traffic's country of origin

I remember the first time I bought a solo ad, I just jumped in before I knew much about buying or tracking solo ads and just got a bunch of traffic from China.

I've noticed price of clicks going up, but quality of traffic going down (just in my own opinion from what has happened to me)

I totally agree with joining FB groups and Skype Groups, it has helped greatly

Exactly. I make it VERY CLEAR to people that my traffic is mostly from Asia. Make sure you are dealing with a STRAIGHT SHOOTER. Also, I tell people STRAIGHT UP if their type of ad probably will not generate good results.

          Hi Writeaway,

That is great that you are transparent! Are you signed up for any independent review locations? Is there such a beast that I can go to and see reviews?

          Thanks,

          Curt

Always ask for reviews, join skype groups, facebook groups, if somebody is bad word will spread. I have even seen a FB group for bad solo sellers to get the word out

Would you purchase Facebook Solo Ads, e.g. users from Facebook? Do you think the value of the users coming from Facebook would be better?

Remember when checking reviews for Solo Ad providers that some buyers will give bad reviews just because they made no sales. If the majority of reviews say clicks delivered on time and the ad provider gave good communication and follow-up then they are probably ok.

Start slowly. Do not buy all the solos from a person immediately. Try. If it converts well, buy more.
