    You don't need any software

you can use a magnum - but thats will make a big mess in you living room.

Its best to shoot your screen with something less dangerous like a water pistol.

Just make sure no water goes in the your keyboard though

No Oscar, you don't need special software.

If you're using Windows Operating system just press the Prt Scn button on your keyboard, it's the one to the right of F12

Paste what is copied to the clipboard into Paint.exe

you'll find Paint in Programs=> Accessories=> Paint (right underneath Notepad)

One of the best investments I've ever made is buying SnagIt by Tech Smith - the same people who make Camtasia

    Google it

Its not expensive and it does tons of stuff. I actually use it every day.
    You won't regret buying it.

I was able to get Snagit version 7 for nothing. I did a search for it and got that version and then emailed Techsmith for the license number. It wasn't a hacked version but a genuine original.

If I remember how I got it I'd gladly share the details

Snag It is incredibly good. It also lets you edit the image right there without having to resize it in Photoshop.

    hi there,
i only use the simpliest one i know, without having to install or download any software, and thats the one mentioned by david. I find it really easy, and it goes right away to paint editor, and you can do from there, a lot of stuff, like highlight a portion or encircle those that you want to be emphasized in your screenshot. But i've also tried those that you install and just randomly takes screenshot, while you are online, and send them to a specified page to be reviewed.

vista actually has a nifty thing called "snipping tool". If you have vista, go to your control panel and search it. it's cool because you can add it to your task bar and not just take a screen shot but crop it to your suit your needs.

I use a free graphics editor called Photoscape which not only captures any area but also allows you to edit it.

    Plus has some neat effects.

Thanks, this software looks great and the picture looks much clearer than the print method that I have learnt here.

Thank you I am going to search for the software you have mentioned.

1st option -> Use PrntScr button method

2nd option -> if you are on Windows Vista or Windows 7, then use snipping tool.

    Hi

To do a print-screen you don't need any software.

If you're using Windows, you can press the 'Print Screen' button located next to the 'F12' button on the keyboard.

If you don't want the system tray (i.e. clock) showing up then just press ALT + Print Screen buttons.

    I hope this helps.

I tried to do this the other day.

I believe you have to press the print screen button on your keyboard.

Then open up like Microsoft word and just paste it.

    Hope that works!

I personally really like Fire Shot, which is a firefox/ flock plugin where you can edit it all and add pointer arrows, text, shapes, crop etc.... and it's also free.

I personally dont need a software to do screenshots. Just hit the "printscreen" key on your keyboard, and open "paint" on your accessories, then hit "CTRL+V" to paste it.

Then "save as", drop down file extension to .jpg so that it will be a smaller file, rather than bitmap. Then "ok" or "save" button. Good luck!
