Changed look- Suggestions?

Hi,

I changed the look of my site - The Satire Magazine - Where Everything Has Its Own Meaning! after suggestions from my fellow Warrior Members.

I would like fair criticism on how you like it now and what I can do for better engagement... I have around 300-400 page views daily and am looking forward to increase it.

Any sort of help, including suggestions, tips and other help would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

I like it, apart from the pop-ups.

I think it's interesting and has great long-term potential.

You need to spell-check. On your "about us" page, you refer (both in text and in an image) to "the sattire magazine", spelled with an extra "t", which of course doesn't match the title or url. Even if it's a satire of the word "satire", it may not be appreciated as such ...

    Good luck with the site!

I must say Alexa, You got more observant eyes. I just had a couple of looks at the website and I like it very much.

as per professionalism. remove the popups and advertisements. Instead add integrate aweber form and start building you email list. This is more profitable than ugly advertisements. just give away some magazine stuffs to attract attention.

overall the website is cool, keep it up

I will be changing the image title soon! It's actually called The Sattire Magazine - as it promotes a new form of satire. I am just searching for an apt logo that can go as the title image - and so the different spellings

I did wonder if the intention was something along those lines. Sorry to sound such a skepchick, but I can't help wondering whether that's the best of ideas: are you not concerned that many people will (albeit mistakenly) dismiss that as an illiterate blunder, and not be interested? Anyway, I think you need to choose one spelling and stick to it (I'd choose the correct one, myself, and side-step this problem!): using both in different places really does look like carelessness - just my perspective: sorry.

          Haha yes,

I will choose 'sattire' - reason being that the original url of this site (still in use) was The Sattire Magazine - Where Everything Has Its Own Meaning!. Second, our facebook page is named thesattiremagazine and third as I said, we are focusing and projecting ourselves as doing a new form of satire.

And yes, it should be even in all the places, agree to that.

So, this is what happened to my eye and head when I loaded it. My thoughts are in order:

    1. Site looks nice and professional.
    2. Oops Satire is misspelled.
    3. Wait, why is it called Satire Magazine? I don't get it? (I looked at the titles of the articles).
    4. Looked for a little while to discover what the Satire was and found a very tiny explanation of it site next to the very large title. It's barely visible and I didn't see it at first. Still, I think the explanation could have more punch.

My takeaway is that it is a professional site and fun premise, but I think the premise needs to be a lot more obvious.

So, a bigger tag line is that will help? Anything else? Any ideas on what else the explanation could be?

        Just two quick observations,

The bright blue background (under your article rotator) draws attention to itself because the rest of your site is pretty muted (gray/off white). I think a less obtrusive color would "tone it down" a little. Also, this blue area, in my opinion, would look better centered under the gray horizontal nav bar just above it rather than shifted all the way to the left as it is.

The second thing I noticed is that you have kind of hidden your sign-up area in the bottom left column.

If the site were mine, I would locate the signup box in the right side of the blue background area (just to the right of your rotating articles) so that it was above the fold and more prominent. I addition, I wouldn't just use the word "Subscribe" like you have. I would give a compelling reason to join your list, like a free report or something with a color graphic cover.

These are not a major criticisms, but they are things I noticed quickly when I clicked on your site link. You have a very nice magazine type layout, congratulations!
