Should I buy .co.uk as well as .com?
I started a website a couple of months ago that gets most of its traffic from the US. Currently, I only have the .com domain registered, even though I'm in the UK.
I'm thinking of registering the .co.uk domain as well for two reasons (the second of which may not be valid):
1. To stop anyone else buying it
2. To encourage more UK traffic (not sure if this would actually happen..??)
However, I'm concerned that having a .co.uk may harm the amount of US traffic I'm generating. I write my site in American English, as the US is the biggest market, and I wouldn't want Google to start viewing my site as a "UK site" and harm my US search results.
Is there any cause for concern? Or should I just go ahead and register it?
Thanks!
