Some Twitter Follow buttons won't allow u 2 follow?

When I try to follow some people on Twitter who are following me, the Follow button seems to do nothing; i.e. it does not allow me to follow them.

Is it a tech glitch, maybe?
Or do some people prefer that you do not follow them?

An example today, the graphic of one follower was that default brown, so I though maybe that person was canned for spamming or something and the Twitter member no longer existed at that ID.

In others, though, not sure.

Any thoughts on this?

Thanks!

Twitter is limiting you to follow 2000 people , that limit is lifted later by people that are following you , so if 900 people are following you ,you cant follow more than 2000 .So for start if you are advertising you should target people in your niche not just add them randomly , until you get more people to follow you and limits are lifted.

Twitter is very buggy, especially with the worms that were on the system.

    It's getting much better now.

Sometimes I've noticed that it takes a long time for the AJAX to load after clicking a follow button, but if I reload the page it shows that I'm following the person. Maybe that's the same issue you're seeing.

Thanks! Wasn't sure on the glitches or the limits, so that helped a lot.

Also noticed that Twitter changes the member/profile off and on quite a bit, it seems. For example, I had a Twitter "Search" tool, but now it's gone. Also had a Twitter Friend Find / Add type tool for about a day, but now it's also gone (never even got to tire kick!)

These don't stick around enough to really give them a try much, do they? Fun place to let your cyber-hair down, though, and hook up with folks on nearly anything and everything

Apart from some built in limiters I think the issues you have are glitches.

I find it quite amazing that such a buggy system is so successful. I've got one account that simply doesn't receive all the tweets in the timeline. It's really hit and miss which tweets I get to see. I've reported it a few times but not had any reply and no improvement in the service.

We all know how regularly it crashes and as has been mentioned, they mess with the homepage and put stuff on and takes stuff off without warning. Delete function comes and goes, DMs are flaky and sometimes it doesn't update for hours. The list goes on.

And yet, I love it. I can't imagine another new service that's so unreliable becoming so popular in such a short space of time. Anyone else that runs a business to such shoddy standards deserves not to have the growth Twitter has experienced. The fact that it's free might have a small impact on this phenomenon.

      It could just be glitches...

It is also possible that the person you're attempting to follow has their profile set to require approval before allowing that. That's not an option you see a lot of people mentioning in this market, but it's there.

If that was the case then you would (should) see a message to that effect - another glitch perhaps?
