How old are you when starting an internet business ?

I'm sure many have started an internet business, there are quick and some are slow.

Here you can specifically state what your age when you start an internet business?

I started my first internet business when I was in college (about age 20). My friends and I bought and sold Magic: The Gathering cards online. But that didn't last very long.

I started my first "serious" internet business last year, when I was 28.

I was 17 years old when I started building websites for profit. That 10 years ago.

I started taking seriously my internet business when I was 40 years old. I still have a full time job and my IM goal is to create a good passive income stream.

Well, I started working on building a content creating company a couple years ago (failed) then I started working on a website building business (failed). I have been studying how to make money online since I was around 16 years old. At the moment I am 21 and I don't have a internet business set up yet. Which is entirely my fault, I never put it enough effort.

    But that will change soon.

I was 18 (but I think I was 19 before I actually earned anything to speak of, from it).

(I have mixed feelings when I read of people of 15/16 starting online businesses. I admire them and in some ways wish I'd managed to do the same, but at the same time I'm not sure my parents would have been very keen on the idea, and perhaps rightly so, in a sense.)

My cousin introduced me to direct marketing when i was 17. From there i naturally gravitated towards internet marketing since i love being on the computer. Made my first 2 sales in 1 day while i was in college. Was astounded to say the least.

Well, this is true. But (a) the thread might still interest others (I was interested to learn a little more about Willie, just above, for example); and (b) it might be a 24-hour ban, or whatever, for all we know?

I think these types of threads are very helpful to people just starting there internet marketing journey -- or who are struggling at the moment to make things work.

Many Many people say you can make 100/1000/or even 10,000 dollars in a week or two and sell all this hype

Letting people tell how long it took them some even years as mentioned in this thread before they saw a profit - shows truly that it is not easy to make money online.

You need to first understand how to make money - then you need to work... Also with the internet changing you always need to adapt too it

          Anyways....

I started at the end of last year in October 2012

I think it goes to show that age is not an issue when stating online! You can see there are many young folks starting at an early age.

I have clients that are getting started online and they are grandmas (in their 50s, 60s and even 70s).

All you need is a compelling WHY to get started and don't give up!

That's a serious question. When I don't see any value in a thread, I ignore it.

As far as my own internet business, it's only been a few years that I started trying to do everything online, but I've always done business online. From a BBS in Columbus, Ohio in 1980... an ISP in Lanham, Maryland around 1992... a web host and custom software company in Seattle, Washington in 1998... I've been online since before the internet was really a thing. I was ten when I started that first BBS.

I was 37 and still had 6 years to go before I could retire from
the USAF. I wasn't sure that I was going to stay in the military
for those last 6 years, so I went ahead and started a business
that could easily move around with me since the military had a
tendency to move people around every 3-4 years.

I'd often put in 12 - 16 hour days with the Air Force, then spend
another 4-6 hours on the computer, often falling asleep at the
      computer :-)

I was 43 when I started out and 47 when I went full time. I do not thin age really matters as much as having a goal, getting the skills needed to do the work, and then actually working.

I 100% agree with you. I just had a very, very successful day. I plan on reinvesting all of that money into my business, and what is more important, I'm putting it into a business plan. Too many people subscribe to the shiny objects and think money manufactures itself online. The reality is if you don't work, you're not going to make money. Sure, in this business, you can stop working and keep making money, but you have to put in the work first.

I started at 32 in 2008 when the economy crashed and I lost my job making $120k a year, give or take a few thousand. My wife lost her job at the same time and was making just as much. You can imagine our panic, and our determination.

I can't say I worked non-stop, because I have had months and months of slacking off doing nothing once I established a residual income, but I will tell you that I'm happier now than I ever was working in Advertising and making lots of money. I haven't broken the 6 figure mark with IM yet, but I'm able to support my family and loving life. I made a ton of money while sitting waist deep in the river this weekend tossing back cold ones. Perhaps there's other jobs like that in this world, but I'm not qualified for them.

I've been employed twice since 2008 because my IM income wasn't cutting it, but for the most part, it's been awesome. I'm not sure I'm even qualified to comment on this topic though, I've been a blogger with adsense revenue, not a traditional IM person.
