Should you use a Email Template or Not?

INTERNET MARKETING

I had some concerns when doing email marketing. Is it more professional to use a Email Template for your broadcasts with your autoresponder then using a simple html email to send to your list?

Do you think it would increase the open rate if you have a nicer template? One of the reasons why I ask is because of the fact that I normally dislike those emails that have all those images because my email automatically blocks them.

I wanted to see if it's annoying to have a email template for a newsletter or since companies use it it's recommend.

I'd say it's more professional, but not necessarily better.

Larger companies don't really seem to like the plain HTML or text emails, they usually have a fancy template. Smaller companies, like internet marketers, tend to go with just text which makes it more personal (to me).

I think it all depends on your niche, and what kind of image you're trying to present.

  It depends upon your target market and the style and
  content of the e-mails you create.
  
  Here's what I'd recommend you do...
  
  Split your list into two groups A and B.
  
  Send Group A the template version.
  
  Send Group B the plain version.
  
  Track the response rates via each method and you'll
  find the most suitable format for you and your specific
  list.

  I use basic, but attractive header images occasionally and sometimes pictures of products.
  
  For everything else I just include a pic of myself and my sig / name in the footer.

I keep things simple with text only, so I know people can open it on cellphones fine.

I keep my emails short and simple and link people back to my website.

So to answer your question, no I don't use templates.

Hi Tony,

Most email services allow you to test 2 campaigns against each other.

You can set up these email campaigns to see whether text or template
version converts the best.

This can be easily done & with enough traffic you'll soon have a winner!
