When building a fresh site...

How much do you spend on your start-ups. Include how much you spend on the domain name, content, themes, plugins, etc.

I am curious if anyone sticks to a strict budget when they start a new site, like if someone gives themselves $80 or something to create a site, and if so what is your budget?

    All you really need is a hosting account and a domain. You can actually get both of those free, as well, but it's not professional and I wouldn't advise it.

    You can get a free WordPress theme, free plug-ins, etc so you could easily set up a site for $15. If you have multiple sites in mind, monthly hosting on a reseller account will cost about $25, then your only cost are the domain names which are cheap.

    Certainly you can pay more, but you don't have to.

    Anywhere from $250 to $2000 depending on the goal of the site and the price of the writers.

    Most of the cost should come from content. You need fantastic writers and you should not be afraid to pay their price if they are worth it.

    This is a very basic rule of thumb - some sites can cost less and some more but I don't think I could flip a mini authority site and get a good price for the flip if I was spending less than $100. Just my own experience.

    I never limit myself to a budget in particular, but creating a new site with a domain, hosting (assuming you don't already have it), Aweber opt in form and maybe some custom plugins shouldn't be much more than $200.

    Assuming it's not the first site the marginal cost should be the domain name at around $10 and your time spent on creating it and filling it up with content.
