Does Anyone Still Use Blogger?

I have WordPress blogs but hear these Blogger ones are still ranking these days - anyone still have experience of this and if so would you say there are any problems with linking posts to your main money site  I know they have good PR so I personally can't think of any reasons....

Thanks if you have any feedback

    Yes, they do.

Four (partly overlapping) groups that I can think of ...

    (i) People who are unaware of the unnecessary risks

(ii) People who imagine that those are all problems that happen "only to other people" and that they'll be ok "if they stick to the terms of service" :p

(iii) People who don't know that you can have your own reliably self-hosted WordPress blogs without paying anyone a penny for the blog, the theme or the hosting

(iv) Very few people who still imagine that "they must rank well because Google owns Blogger" (seriously, there are still a few people who believe that).

In other words, collectively, they're people who don't quite appreciate that it's entirely unnecessary and pretty ill-advised.

Google Suspended My Innocuous Blogger Blog
    Squidoo/Blogger as primary website
    Blogger and deleted blogs?
    Blogger blog removed
Wow Blogger Deemed All My Hard Work Spam
    Is blogger blogs worthy?
    have blogspot energy?
is Wordpress really a better choice than Blogger in my case?
    Blogger Hosting...Is that ok??

Of course it's possible to make some money or derive some backlinks or do other things from a Blogger blog: it's just completely unnecessary, when there are so many other, better, safer ways of doing the same thing (also without paying!).

Ive had a blogger self hosted blog for years, I never enjoyed much success with it although I did at times neglect updating it. Once I got wordpress I never turned back there are so many more options, themes, plugins etc..

      1) The risks are comparable to other blog hosting sites, depending on your content.

      2) It seems you have an axe to grind with Blogger, and that's fine, but not everyone has the same luck as you.

      3) You cannot have a "Self-hosted" wordpress blog - the free option is hosted by wordpress.

      4) After writing several blogs on both services, the blogger posts consistently end up higher in search results - and more quickly.

Again, to each their own. I love both platforms, but Blogger is a great, free ad-free option. Not ill-advised in the least.

I got started with blogger blogs years ago and thought they were great. As soon as I learnt how to use WordPress I never looked back, blogger gives you absolutely no control. Plus, I don't think that the SEO benefits everyone claims is as strong as you may think. I'd much rather be optimising a property that I had complete control over (e.g.WordPress) than a blogger blog.

I find that there are still a lot of people who use blogger who are not IMers, but have other types of business.

Blogger helps them by simplifying the whole blogging process. Wordpress, let's face it, is a nonstop learning process - and not everyone needs such a powerful online profile. Blogger's simplicity is a welcome relief after fussing with WordPress - if all you need is a blog in its simplest terms. You can make a lot of music with just 12 notes.

If you are using a blog for developing online channels - WP is better. If your website can be replaced in an afternoon - nothing wrong with Blogger.

I still do as part of my traffic generation using Web 2.0 properties and making money from them.

Regardless of what anyone might say, it is still possible to make $ from Blogger blogs if you do it correctly.

That is by giving Google and searchers aka people what they want.

    Valuable Content.

I started out using blogger blogs. They are very easy to set up, which makes them a good way for newbies to learn.

Once you have an idea of setting them up I would recommend moving on to self hosting solutions. Wordpress is definitely easy to use and very flexible.

I have an old blogger blog ranking on page 1 for an affiliate product and I still make sales randomly.

I think blogger blogs are good for beginners who don't have any money to invest in a domain and hosting.

    I'm still using Blogger for my two websites(has PR4 & PR5).

Here is why i use blogger instead of WP:
    * In a security point of view, i feel Blogger is more secure than Wordpress selft-hosted blog. If you are using Wordpress, you have to make sure your blog doesn't contain any vulnerabilities. You cant say simply updating to the latest version will fix the issue. It just protects you from known vulnerabilities. You can't assure the plugin/theme u r using is bug-free.

    * I don't need to spend money for DDOS attacks protection. Even some DDOS protection services are not working properly, showing annoying error message to normal users :\

    and more..

Also Google has added some interesting features in Blogger.

I used blogger in the past, but not so much any more. Google has made a lot of changes that do not help you. Also, they want your real name. Well, it might be an option if you are very poor. They do not charge for blogger and you can make some money. For example, you can add sad sense.

I would switch to wordpress, if there would be a free fast wordpress hosting without ads and good subdomains.
Haven't found in the last 15 years.
