Using Fiverr to Practice Helping People Make More Money

I'll admit it.

Up until a few days ago, I had never checked out Fiverr.

The whole concept turned me off because it feeds into the bargain basement mentality, which is already rampant enough.

As I was checking it out, I confirmed my preconception that a lot of people were giving away their valuable talents for mere pennies. (Because somewhere along the way, they failed to learn how to communicate the value they offer.)

I mean, come on...

A Powerpoint VSL (from my script) for $5? Seriously? $5? Yup. I bought one. And what I got in-return is something I'm accustomed to paying a lot more for. Legit. I tipped the dude $100 just to make myself feel better.

Okay...

But as I surfed around a little more, I saw some, shall we say, intriguing ads.

For one...

I checked out a former ad agency dude giving people some taglines for their businesses.

I thought to myself, "Even if people don't use his tags, it gives them an insight into how an ad guy thinks and helps them see their business from a whole new perspective."

Pretty cool.

Then I asked myself, "If I was going to offer something on Fiverr, what would it be... and why?"

Here's what I came up with:

A lot of people need help. And if you have the ability to assist new IMers, without compromising your day... why not?

Even better...

If you could use a Fiverr ad to get your own creative juices flowing, while you help other people in whatever aspects of IM you excel in, how amazing would that be?

No...

I'm not talking about making money; I'm talking about accepting the $5 as just a small exchange of energy for your brief consulting expertise.

I'm also a brand guy.

I integrate branding into direct response campaigns.

I thought, "Why don't I offer people 15 minutes of my time to help them organize their vision - so they can hone in upon their brand and become WAY more productive?"

I'm in the process of doing that right now. I just need to make a quick video for my pitch (waiting for the dark circles under my eyes to disappear - after a long night of meeting deadlines.)

My point is...

Everyone needs practice to continue growing as an IMer.

You can use Fiverr to help newbie Internet Marketers and use those interactions to potentially stumble upon new ideas for your own business.

Just a thought.

Mark

P.S. I apply the same philosophy when I post here on the WF. In the process, I've made some pretty awesome connections in the last few years here that have changed my life for the better. You never know what's possible when you reach out and offer a helping hand. That's all I'm saying.

Your idea to help newbies is commendable but I can think of a lot of ways to spend my time in that effort so that I get a greater return and help my own business in the meantime.

Instead of getting paid $4 for 15 minutes of your time, you could write a helpful report, ebook or course on your specialty and get paid way more in recurring sales for your product over the coming months and years.

As has been said many times on this forum, any time you trade your time for money in providing a service, you lose the financial power of leveraging your product with recurring sales.

I don't know about you, but $16/hour is no way to make a living and that would only happen if you had gig after gig after gig.

      I've been selling products since '05. That's a no-brainer.

      I have 3 new products in-development.

I'm always looking for innovative ideas to monetize and create multiple streams of passive income.

The Fiverr idea isn't about making money... at least on the front end.

      Imagine though...

I'll have a handful of case studies to use for a free report to continue building my list or create a formula to sell a digital guidebook.

      Infinite possibilities.

Go for it, Mark. I also sell services on Fiverr. Many people think it's just about the money. It isn't. I appreciate the volume Fiverr delivers because it helps me continuously step my game up for my own projects.

Cool that you tipped that dude a C-note. Maybe he'll wake up and start charging what he's worth.

Whatever he's worth may be, he is not going to get more than $4 per gig at fiverr.

Very cool that you tipped that dude 100 bucks. I personally use fiverr as a lead GEN for consulting. Generally speaking, Fiverr is very useful at getting the right type of mindset buyers. I've gotten higher end coaching clients just because somebody bought one of my fiverr gigs that was simply a how to video. I think fiverr is a brilliant tool for generating new leads. You never know when that 15 minute consulting will turn into a raving fan that could be worth more to you in the long run. Cool karma point you one yourself. I think you're up to something.

There is much value in Fiverr. Some people get hung on the $5 gig and are immediately turned off failing to see beyond five bucks. I have a semi-automated gig on fiverr, I spend 10 -15 min per gig. I've added a $40 and a $20 gig extra, I sell at 2-5 gig extras every week, $5 turns into $50 very quickly. Just think outside the box.

The $4 profit you get can barely be worth it unless you are sending a report or some ebook already made up... If you do actual work for that money you should have some sort of upsell or at least make some leads to bigger profits. If you use it the right way it can be a great way of making leads.... Just be discreet about it since you arent supposed to give out contact details.

As has already been mentioned several times, after Fiverr takes their 20% cut, the $4/gig amounts to only $16/hour. But since your approach going into this is primarily for the experience in working with different people with different needs rather than trying to maximize your profits on sales, I say go for it.

They say that one cannot teach what they themselves do not know (theoretically anyways). I've had to train co-workers on several different occasions before and sometimes I surprise myself in regards to how well I really know something. Best of luck and I hope that you'll be able to learn and grow from this experience.

    Hey, Mark

You are right. Fiverr is not just a cash machine. All of us can contribute there for newbies who have not enough money to start in IM. I also did it, just placing one of my product there. It did not take a lot of time to create, but it was useful.
