Can I ask if anyone has noticed the large horizontal banner ad that states you can be coached to earning 6K per month within a year?

If you have, have you also noticed it links to this page Make Money Online With Matt Poc

Where it says the offer will be taken down "tomorrow" yet I have seen this offer for at least a month now.

Does anyone have any idea about this?

    Classic marketing technique. False time constraint. Unfortunately a lot of marketers do it to pressure people into buying.

    I personally don't like using this technique. My spam inbox is flooded with thousands of messages like "GRAB THIS AMAZING DEAL NOW!! 1 DAY LEFT1!" and you can instantly tell that there is not really one day left. The technique does work though. But I think it is best to say something like "this offer expires soon!" instead of saying "this offer expires in 1 day 2 hours and 30 minutes!!".

      yes I agree with this 110%

      Good marketing, but people need to be realistic. IF there was a PUSH BUTTON FOR 6k a week..... everyone would QUIT their boring ass jobs and push that button once a day for the rest of their lives.

      YOu have a long road ahead of you if you think you can just do one or two things and make $2000 by next week. Those days have never been here, and will never come.

      The best way to making it BIG online is to study the successful people and do what they do. Most of the time, its massive amounts of traffic and big lists. But that takes time, no matter what anyone there will tell you.

        Very sneaky tactic...i remember when clickbank was getting sick and tired of sales pages that mention sh** like "5 copies left at $19" or "$19 for 24 hours only" on them etc.

        Anyways, it's definitely a "marketing approach".

    Yep, creation of urgency to purchase is a technique many use.

    I have used it once, but my offer really did close after a certain point. When it closed, it was replaced by an optin box to let those who missed out when it would be available again.

    You will also notice a lot of the comments are posted on the same dates with weeks between them.

    Anyone who says the offer will be taken down tomorrow and uses a date script to show the current days date is just misleading people.

    But you should contact the helpdesk as they are the ones in control of the banners being approved.

    I would agree with the other members. It reminds me of some stores I see in my local area that have “Going out of business” sales only to never close their doors. That’s a classic play on an old psychological state where we want to do something because we think the opportunity will soon be gone.

    Personally I am of the mind that businesses should do a better job of communicating their value rather than trick people into buying. As for the service in question, I have never used it but I would scrutinize it a bit more now that you can see there is a little false advertising going on.

    Urgency marketing...

    To be honest, if I was sent to a page like that, I'd look elsewhere. If it was me I'd present the page a lot better rather than spending $100 for the day sending people to a page that looks plain and unattractive. Not saying graphics means everything but personally it's not to my taste and feels like a lazy marketer to me.

    OMG I actually hate that! I remember getting fooled by that exact same tactic when I first got started online I think its dishonest, those poor little newbies out there thinking they're going to miss out if they don't BUY THIS SECOND!!

      It's not so much a lie as it is a secret code that means "very basic product intended for newbies and stupid people."

      You may never have noticed, but Heinz ketchup is labeled as "fancy." This means that it has a specific gravity not less than 1.15 and contains at least 33% tomato solids. Even if you did notice, you probably never knew that, because this distinction is only relevant in food service. Standard ketchup has a specific gravity of 1.11 and only 25% tomato solids.

      And on the completely ridiculous front, ketchup with a specific gravity of at least 1.13 and and no less than 29% tomato solids is extra standard.

      That phrase means absolutely nothing outside of this context and indeed is patently absurd.

      It's the same way with marketing. There are all kinds of terms and phrases and tactics which mean one thing outside the industry, and quite another inside it.

      An outsider on the way inside will encounter a lot of these things. They're not really lies. They're the secret language of the marketing tribe, where things do not mean what they say, but something both altogether different and oddly specific.

      What does "under thirty dollars" mean, for example?

      LISA, you said it right; and I was one of those poor newbies that got into that idea that right now if I really buy right now, I will get something great that will make me a lot of money, but if I do not buy NOW, I will never be able to it. And I bought products for $2000.00 that end up being useless, but the URGE to buy made make a mistake. Of course I learn also that even thought that was a trick, the decision to buy was mine, and from that moment on, I learned my lesson. I now am very careful. Thank you Lisa for your words, it reminds me of my time.

      Not at all.

      It was querying a marketing technique that a fellow warrior is using in his marketing.

      I think we can all learn something from the pros and cons.

      As you can see most know what it is, how to do it, but most arnt for the same technique and are in fact offering other suggestions for how they would do it.

      I am with them on that same strategy. I wouldn't do what Matt is doing, Instead I would offer a limited number of spots or put a count down timer on or something like that.

      Its also great for newbies to learn from threads like this regarding both their own marketing and also in terms of when they are buying how to be clued into the sales copy etc.

      It's a twist on a "loss leader"... where the loss he is experiencing is solely his time. He probably tries to upsell on the call.

    This scarcity tactic probably still works on newbies, but to thinking persons rarely think about scarcity on the ever expanding Internet. If anything the thought of scarcity raises a red flag.

    Yeah this is just a classic time constraint call to action designed to make you think you may miss out if you don't purchase it. I think it used to be a lot more effective a few years ago than it is now, I always feel that it has a ring of desperation about it now as literally everyone does it.

    One way where it could be effective is if it was actually used and applied, would definitely take a lot of people by surprise and could help to build some hype and exclusivity around a product.

      Its also a classic technique where business get shut down and people get put into prison here in Australia, its called "puffery" and "deceitful" marketing.

      Business have literally been shut down because of claims like this in Australia. All it would take is for 1 or 2 people to take Mr Matt to a small claims tribunual to start the chain.

      If I was Matt, I'd change that immediately, or not.

    LOLZ what a sh*tty looking website. I still don't understand why so many people try selling IM/MMO products. As if that's the only way to profit...it gives all of us a bad rep. Pisses me off.

      I think it looks okay. It's definitely not fancy like Heinz ketchup. But isn't it true in marketing that "ugly" often out pulls "pretty"? You ought know that!

      I like it. It's simple. And I bet it converts. That's the important thing. Among other things like delivering on the promise. But that's a given.

    Scarcity projection is a very powerful tool in selling.

    I think he could have word it with something like; "this will be deleted soon" instead of saying tomorrow, just for the sake of not looking like outright deceit.

    But he can probably defend it as "everyday will have a tomorrow" since he didn't state "tomorrow with a date" e.g. "this will be deleted tomorrow June 14, 2013".

    But it seem this warrior wants his visitors to do what we all IM warriors desire; "TAKE ACTION" from the get go.

    When you are booking the call appointment, he even states; "When I call you, be in front of your computer! If you miss the call, I will NOT call you again!".

    I believe any prospect this convert will be a good one, except if what he has to offer during the phone call is not a solid.

    In terms of "ugly and pretty", I have seen so many "uglies" with "pretty" partners. I all depends on what this warrior has to offer.
