I Just Got Access To Fiverr V2!!!!!

Fiverr just sent me an email that allows me to access Fiverr V2 if I just share it on Facebook.

I got in and immediately checked if I could change the price of my gig (because apparently they are suppose to let you price it between $5 and $500). They have not added that yet so right now V2 is just a design change. Even with just a new layout, it is much better than the original Fiverr. There are better analytics and all sorts of cool things.

I attached a screenshot of my home page. I like the World Domination map the most.

Very nice, looking forward to the new switch over and features myself. Going to be very interesting once the custom price gigs option is working. Just hope people don't start over pricing gigs.

It definately it's a "cosy" as the original!

I have a feeling that people will start off overpricing their gigs and then see a drop in sales and profit. Then they would be forced to drop their prices back to $5. I think that it will be easier to order things like transcription of 1 hour of audio for $30 instead of buying 6 of the transcription of 10 minutes of audio for $5.

Is there a way to charge less? I offer 10 minutes of audio transcription for $3.50.

I have seen the V2 last day. But it was not live. I was just able to check the demo when I click a button above the main nav bar. All looks great.. Even better than other outsourcing platforms.

The whole success of fiverr was based on cheap gigs that were only 5 dollars.

Now they are letting people price their gigs at any price point and all of a sudden their USP is down the toilet.

A site like this already exists and I would bet my bottom dollar the designers, etc hanging out on this one are far better quality than the ones on fiverr.

Microlancer | Fast, Affordable Digital Services

That site is created by Envato, the same guys being ThemeForest, PhotoDune, CodeCanyon, etc, etc. The developers who hang out on those sites are far superior in quality to the ones I have seen hanging around fiverr.

    Just saying...

I would really struggle to pay anything more than 5 dollars for most of the work I have ever had done on fiverr. I only got it cause it was cheap and in most cases, nasty.

Will be interesting to see how it plays out. Are they just getting greedy?

Even though it's not unusual for me to pay more than $5 to have something done on fiverr I also like the $5 starting price. If the new design raises the price of most items I probably won't be using it as much.

I completely agree. Fiverr was first appealing to me because you could get an array of unique services for $5. Now that the price of those very same services might get driven up (depending on who is selling them), the appeal is completely gone. Instead of going to Fiverr, what is stopping me from going to one of the hundreds of thousands of other E-commerce sites that trade services for cash?

      Dumb.

It will bring in more quality work, but like Will said, they made their bread and butter on cheap gigs, I am skeptical how this will all work out.

IMO i think the fact that the gigs will be worth more they will attract better service providers.

Maybe, but will they undercut their own traffic flow in the process? If people are looking for cheap gigs and not the best service providers, they may stop visiting. If the traffic stops, the better service providers will probably leave.

I'm with Will & others...doesn't make a ton of sense to me. Seems like they're just diluting their proven product. But time will tell.

    Me personally... I'm gutted.

All the gigs I use will most likely go up now

That, and doesn't it go against the whole ethos of Fiverr being called Fiverr anyway?

Of course, I'm speaking from a buyer's point of view - can see this being more beneficial for the sellers though.

In a way, prices have been going up there for some time already. With all the gig extras, many of the good sellers have figured out how to structure their gigs for maximum upsell opportunity.

I'm guessing all the lame gigs that don't get orders now will probably up their prices in hopes of making "more money", which, of course, will make them even less likely to sell. People aren't going to be nearly as inclined to give the new guy a chance (on speculation pretty much) unless he prices his gig low.

I suppose I'm trying to say that the only gigs that will be successful bumping their prices will tend to be the ones that provide great value and can actually a higher price.

Are they going to kick providers in the teeth with a 20% commission on a $500 sale? I wonder how that will go...

Hmm, I wonder how they'll justify their brand's meaning "fiverr" now? Anyway, if they bring in quality traffic who are really willing to buy the higher priced gigs, then this might work out for the best I guess.

This is surprising to me. I always make sure my customers are happy and I assume most other sellers do as well (or at least should).

I just switched back to the regular Fiverr for now. I came to the conclusion that I won't go back to it until it is completely developed. It does not have an organized chat function and it has NOTHING for suggesting gigs.

with the gig extras people were already pricing their gigs more than $5 strategically, or breaking up the gig so they can charge more. This will simply allow the people that have gig extras to charge a set price for the gig and the included gig extras. Or at least that's one use for it.

Even before gig extras, sellers told buyers to order a certain amount of gigs for a service.

I use to make use of corbis back in the day when I could get a dozen pics for $12, but they decided to up their own prices. Well, that made me move. Other micro stocks have my business now. Few people if any, use corbis any more. They still send me emails, asking me to come back, but hey it costs too much money. History repeats itself again. Don't get greedy - that is what I can tell you.
