All Writers...Required Listening. Even Mr. Myers (It's That Good)

I've read many discussions about the written word.

But I've never heard a better monologue...

Audio / Video - Audio - Series 2 Episode 3, Language - The New Adventures of Mr Stephen Fry

Paul Myers...this is SO you.

I'll bet you've already heard it. Cool. So should everyone else.

Steve

      Whatever. Thanks for your 'input'.

I'd rather focus on the subject. The 'topic'. The Raison D'etre. Etcetera...

Okay, okay then... everyone on the planet except Mr. Myers... (I hope his feelings aren't hurt.)

        ROTF Ken!

I really do appreciate the laughs from reading your posts today, so thanks a million. You kept me in stitches every time I visted.

        Hey Steve,

Yeah, Mr Fry is one of the best I've heard, and before you ask, no, I haven't heard this one until today.

        Thanks for posting it.

Oh, and isn't it though? I mean about Paul .

          Steve,

Thank you. That was the most enjoyable half hour of listening I've done in ages.

Wonderful stuff. Leaving aside the references to Jaynes and Dawkins, which added an interesting depth, and his deft spanking of wombats, which he calls by the more proper name of pedants, it was just enormously FUN.

"This bunch of semi-educated losers," indeed.

The man genuinely enjoys his wordplay. That is so refreshing, and so rare these days. That is what the world of words is all about.

Brilliant. I'm going to listen to that often.

Fantastic. Glad you liked it, Paul.

Heaven knows what you would've charged me if I'd wasted half an hour of your time...

S'funny. When I heard Fry talking about pedants, I substituted the word "wombats", too.

It's one of the reasons this thread has your name on it.

    Hi,

I absolutely love Stephen Fry. I really do.

I love his eccentricity, his intelligence but with a humble nature. What I wouldn't give to have a conversation with him

Suddenly, listening to Fry's voice, I'm transported back in time to
England's verdant rolling landscapes, with its lushness of tones and
its first rate broadcasts of pretty much everything on Radio 4.

    Steve,

    A timely reminder, thanks.

I've been subscribed to Stephen Fry's podcasts
for quite a while. He's an entertaining speaker
    and has a high "QI"

And for those on twitter remember to follow @StephenFry you will get some interesting tweets from him, and yes he does reply when you talk to him

When he was in Africa recently, we had wonderful tweets about boiled egg and soldiers for breakfast

      Bev,

Yes, of course, I follow him.

      I've never @ed him, though

      I shall tonight.

      Nailed on. Greatest living Englishman.
