However, it is not easy to get there because many of them are stuck in a rut! They feel that they are controlled by their bosses. They feel that it would take too much time. Home Business Quick Start 2 of 10: Wake Up Slackers!
Hey there,

One of the biggest reasons why people fail at Internet marketing (or fail to break out of their rat race) is because of a flawed mindset towards Internet marketing.

Yes, it is true that you have to spend the remainder of the hours you have left after work to work on your business part time.

But that does NOT mean that you will adopt a part time or half-hearted mentality towards your business. That is by far the most incorrect thing you can do.

You would need to give it the same kind of dedication and perseverance as you would give your full time job. Remember that anything you give more than just your best is bound for success. Imagine this analogy for a second here...

Let's assume that an airplane takes off at 150MPH. You will need to hit a certain speed before the plane develops enough speed to take off. Do you think the plane will be able to fly itself off the ground if you are only traveling at a 100MPH? Of course not! It will not take off even if you are flying at 140MPH! Internet marketing is just like this. You will need to work at a certain momentum before you:

Develop the necessary knowledge to build your business (you can't really 'drive' far if you are constantly locked in 2nd gear).

You need to show others that you are committed enough before they are ready to do a joint venture with you (after all, no one wants to JV with a half-hearted marketer - especially if they know that you are not constantly available).

You need to build your reputation strong enough because it will lessen your promotion work - the speed of trust between you and your customers is very crucial.

Are you moving towards your goal everyday?

Home Business Quick Start 3 of 10: One Direction
Hey {!name_fix} ,

No, this is not about the English pop band One Direction. But don't stop reading.

Imagine doing math homework while watching TV.
Result: Careless mistakes all over.

Focus.

Without it, you can achieve nothing.

No sales.

No money.

No business.

Focus only in one thing. Move only in one direction.

But this is so blatantly obvious, you've heard this probably a million times.

I will try method A and method B at the same time, just in case one of them does not work.
This is what i told myself countless times.

I then failed in every single one of them.

Do you think David Beckham would've been successful had he focused on badminton & soccer at the same time?

#1: Very good that you started!

Now, to get into more detail whether your emails are good or not the most important piece is missing:

    The source of your subscribers.

Did they buy from you? Did they come from a squeeze page and downloaded a free report?

    Then the next important question:

What are you expecting from your subscribers?

    Should they feel entertained?
Should they click ads just for clicking?
    Should they buy something?

I like the way you put that part numbers. This will makes your subscribers "anticipate" your next email.

it seems like your doing a great job, good open rates, good emails, now you just need more people on your list.. Your list size is pretty small.

That's the really only thing I can see going on, you should be getting at least 50-100 new subscribers a day..

Make sure to keep putting new people on your list everyday and just keep doing what your doing, and you should be fine..

I am unsure if my emails are any good
Well what are you trying to achieve with these emails? Clicks? Sales? What?

Is it working? If yes then your emails have done the job.

If not then your emails don't do what you want them to.

and if my subscribers find them valuable, or not.
We don't know as we're not on your list. Try asking them?

Allegedly (apparently an IM guru said it once, so it must be true) a good open rate for IM emails is 10% so if you're consistently above that you can probably consider yourself a success in the IM niche...though be realistic with yourself if only 10% of the people you mail want to read your emails you aren't doing too well, are you?

    Something to think about.

How did people end up on your list? Via a squeeze page to get a freebie, because they bought a product of yours or to get blog updates (or something else)?

I don't find your subjects captivating enough to want me to open the emails.

Try putting your sales link higher up in the copy as well as near the bottom

It's amazing how many email marketers haven't realised that having the link they want clicked above the fold in the email works just as well as it does when having things above the fold on web pages.

If people have to read and scroll to find something to click on many won't.

Jack, first of all, let me say that you're doing an awesome job so far. Most people don't even get started, and you're already starting to get results.

Aside from getting more people onto your list, I'm wondering what your squeeze page looks like. Are you setting your customer's expectations correctly? Do they know what and when you will be emailing them, before they even opt in?

I JUST made a post in another thread addressing this very problem. Take a look at it and see if it helps solve your problem: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ml#post8180750

Well, Try to image yourself in your subscribers mind in such a way that they are excited to see your emails again and can't wait for the next mail.

Just my 2 cents, Good luck and congratulations on starting an email list.

Good job on going for it. I'll start out by saying that I'm not internet marketing guru, but... your emails bored me. There was nothing interesting there. They feel like a robot wrote them. I'd suggest breathing some personality into your writing. Engage people. Tell a story. Get people to relate to you as a person.

People buy from someone they know and trust. After reading a couple of your emails, I know nothing about you. I didn't read all of your emails because they just didn't engage me. Attention spans are minute so either you hook someone or you don't. (You don't.)

    You wrote:

I have a very interesting blog post I would like to share with you guys.
Don't tell me that you have an interesting blog post to share. Just share with me interesting and informative reasons to get me to click. And if you are going to tell me that you have something interesting to share, it damn well better be interesting. Your email however wasn't. It was boring and poorly written. When someone tells me that they have something interesting for me and it's not, then they've broken their word. Why would I buy from someone who's broken their word before I even buy from them?

Your grammar is also not great. There's no way in hell you'd get me to buy anything from anybody who can't be bothered to proofread their writing. Pay someone to clean up your emails if you have to.

Not trying to put you down. You just need to go back to the drawing board with your emails so that you don't turn people off. Keep at it though and you'll get there.

I'm not going to go over and critique each of your emails, nor I am a master email copywriter by any stretch of the imagination, but I do have a couple of general notes here:

*Boring, boring, boring. - Your emails aren't telling your market (IM) anything they don't already know or haven't heard before. "Just work hard and be dedicated", "focus on one thing", "be confident", blah blah blah... YAWN.

The overall message you're trying to convey is good, but you're doing it in a way that doesn't convey any emotion or hook your reader. Also, your headlines are boring, and your message content starts with ho-hum sentences that don't inspire me to read further. Come up with interesting headlines and make sure the first sentence of your message has a "Wow!" factor to it that makes people want to read the rest.

Then, tell a story. Talk about how the other day something happened to you that made you realize WHY it's important to "be confident" or how you witnessed someone's failure because they didn't "focus on one thing" and then tie that into your message. People LOVE to be entertained in emails.

*"Talk-Write, Write-Talk"- You write like you're writing an article. If people want to read articles, they'll head over to Huffington Post... When they click on one of your emails, I can guarantee they'd rather hear from you as an individual, in your voice. Stop using superfluous words and learn to write the way you talk; not how your English teacher would like you to. Write in the same voice you'd use when talking to a friend and use the same wording.

*You're not selling enough - I know it's really popular on the WarriorForum to scold those who are "selling" in their emails too often. Anyone will get a dozen "Thanks" on their post if they writes things like "You should only be selling 20% of the time, the rest of the time you should be giving away quality content for free to keep your readers interested and not think you're just trying to make money". LOL.

The truth is, you should be selling in almost every email, if not every single email. That doesn't mean you come in with a hard sell in every email (i.e. "Buy This NOW!"), but you should at least add a link to something in the "P.S." part of your email or mention that you've got something coming up that you're going to sell them.

For instance, if your email was about why confidence in IM and business is so important, write something like "P.S. The very best tool to help you gain confidence is the best-selling [insert product here]. Get yourself a copy right now - and start improving everything in your life today."

Again, I know everyone and their moms says that "moving the free line" and helping your email list with a bunch of useful info is the only way to go, but I could not disagree more; you will make more money if you're selling in every email, period. A lot of incredibly successful marketers do things this way, which brings me to my next point:

*Study great email copywriters. - The guys who make millions through email: Ben Settle, Andre Chaperon, Matt Furey, Ryan Lee, etc.

I won't go into great detail here, other than to say that when you start taking hints from these kinds of guys, your income will explode.

      Good luck!

My question is: how often you are emailing your list?
    Everyday or what?

I do agreed with the guys that the mails are informative
    but not exactly entertaining...

With people getting so many emails each day,
    especially in IM niche,
you need to improve your subject line.
Got to make it more interesting..

And people do not like to be sold every time.
Try to have more relationship emails in between
    Sales emails..

    Thanks for the feedback guys.

I left out some important information it seems:
My subscribers are from 100 clicks solo ads I purchased.
They are directed to a squeeze page & submitted their email address for a free report.
I mail them once every 3 days since joining my mailing list.

My purpose is for them to be entertained, and buy something based on my recommendations.

Here are the list of what i have to improve, and what I plan to do:

Small subscriber size, need larger subscriber size. <- Need to work on some free traffic source.

Subject names are not captivating enough. <- I have to agree that some of the subject name are pretty boring even to myself. I am starting to get more creative after sending a few emails.

Sales link higher up in the email <- Nice tips, why didn't i thought of this before?

My english is not very good.

Get an email marketing course. <- I did, but that didn't automatically make my emails interesting to read.

Set customer's expectation. <- This is what I missed out. I could tell my subscribers what to expect from the day they join my list.

Boring emails, not engaging. <- I am learning to deliver my message in story form now by reading Ben Settle & Andre Chaperon's email.

Not selling enough <- Perhaps selling in each mail, like how Ben Settle is doing it.

Do let me know what are the areas that I can further improve.
    Very much appreciated.
