Is there a fool-proof way to find the top market leaders in a specific niche?

Does anyone know of a sure way to find who are the top market leaders in a particular niche (for example IM)?

    Immersion.

    Immerse yourself in the niche and it won't be long before you know exactly who are the trusted figures in that niche. Authority is just something given to people by other people. So look at who everyone else respects, talks about, and looks up to.

    It depends upon how you define "top market leaders."

    For example, if you are looking for super affiliates who can produce
    a lot of sales, then I would monitor contest leaderboards.

    If you are looking for thought leaders, people that everyone listen
    to in a given niche, then I'd ask for recommendations in places
    like this forum. However, those people may not be the same ones
    as the super affiliates, because the thought leaders may rarely
    sell affiliate products, or only sell their own products, or maybe
    not even sell anything at all.

    So, how do you define "top market leaders."

    You can find the visible leaders by doing keyword research and seeing who is consistently dominating for organic and paid. There are a lot of top earners that are pretty much invisible because they do a lot of paid advertising that doesn't register on search engines and offline campaigns. What is your purpose for finding the top earners?

      I would like to find the top "leaders" in my niche so that I can start engaging with them (twitter, facebook, etc...)

    Nothing is fool-proof.

    But an easy way of finding "niche leaders" in almost any niche is to look at the Amazon.com bestseller lists. More often than not, the top ten bestsellers in niche categories are going to be "niche leaders".

    Like I said though. Nothing is fool-proof.
