CPV Lab and Hostgator.

Hi,

Does anyone know if CPV Lab does work on Hostgator? I don't really want to go through the pain of changing dedicated servers just for CPV Lab.

Thanks.

      Thanks for the reply. Lost clicks and slow redirects even if I have a full dedicated server (not vps)?

    I wouldn't waste your time.

    Get a VPS with Solid State Drives. Makes all the difference.

    Check out hosting like BeyondHosting and LiquidWeb. They both rock!

      Thanks, but how is a VPS better than a dedicated server? And how does that relate to running CPV Lab on a Hostgator dedicated server?

        Think I have found the answer I am looking for, as per CPV Lab knowledge base.

        -CPV Lab works best with VPS and dedicated hosting. We do not recommend the use of shared hosting such as HostGator.
        So hostgator under the shared platform is not recommended.

          And just got a reply from CPV Lab support (very quick):

          hank you for your interest in CPV Lab!

          ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
          Yes, We recommend VPS or Dedicated hosting because CPV can generate an extremely high level of traffic / page views / etc and most shared hosting services will be overwhelmed by such traffic.

          If you already have Dedicated hosting from Hostgator, It should meet CPV Lab installation requirements so you can use it for hosting CPV Lab:

           Linux Server
           Shared, VPS (recommended) or Dedicated Hosting
          o PHP 5.2 or Above
          o MySQL 5.1 or Above
          o minimum 60 MB of disk space
          o IonCube Loader installed on the server
          ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

          Hope this helps anyone else looking for this information.

        Because 90% of people replying to these threads don't bother to read the entire post/question.

        As long are your server meets the requirements, you should be fine.

        On the other hand, there are instances where virtual servers are more powerful than the average dedicated server that's probably running an i series desktop processor.

        As far as running on shared hosting, you'd probably be fine as long as you're not using a n "unlimited" everything web host as they ten to have even tighter limits than that of a directly limited plan with non-mainstream affiliate driven companies.
