Selling websites on flippa with no script licence?

Hi there any flippa pros. Wondering if you can tell me.

Is it against flippa's terms & conditions to sell a website that is using a script that doesn't have a licence?

About 8 months ago I purchased a funny picture site from there from someone and after trying to get the script updated I've found out the site is not running a licenced version so cannot get the script updated unless I pay for a new licence.

Tried to find something in flippa's terms about this but cant after a quick skim.

I am yet to contact the seller about this so will do that now asking kindly for more information and as to how to update the script. But anyone know anything about this and what my rights are as a buyer. Even after 8 months?

Thanks!

After 8 months and payment for the site, there's nothing you can do. That's all a part of due diligence before buying a site. There's really nothing you can do except to just buy the script if you want to update it.

It is usually IMPOSSIBLE to do this "due diligence" before buying! You buy secrets and all. I mean you really expect that a seller will tell you about ALL mods, plugins, and software before the sale?

That's not true. If you buy developer license themes and plugins, you may sell the sites with those themes and plugins but the buyer does not get support and updates from the theme and plugin vendor. They would have to get those from the seller who has the developer licensing. Woo themes is a good example of that.

Yes, I expect that a seller will tell me what licenses are included in the sale of a site. That certainly shouldn't be a "secret." It's part of the site.

I use a "script" on some of my sites that I have the licence for. At one time I considered selling one of the sites so contacted the script's vendor. Their reply was that I could sell the site, with the script installed, but the new owner wouldn't be entitled to support or updates.

The same may hold for the site you purchased. Were you promised by the vendor that updates and support would be available? If not, and if the site is performing well for you, why not just buy the script?

As SBucciarel says, that was part of your due diligence. Why did it take you 8 months to find out!
