Warrior forum traffic low?

What happened to the WF traffic today? I logged in and I see 700 people in the "warrior special offer" forum, a hand full of people in the other forums, only around 2300 people online here total? Normally there is 10X. Did the server go down or something?

Exactly, I thought there was something wrong with my laptop today because this has never happened on warrior forum.

I was still having trouble loading on my tablet.

I thought it was just my internet connection!

It was crashing quite a bit a while ago, but seems to be working proper now

Yea I dont think I ever saw it this low before. Normally you see around 5K people in the WSO section and several hundred more in the other areas even on a Monday.

And yea very often the site fails to load or has timeout issues. Youd think that with all the money this site brings in they would spring for a better server. Guess not.

So, what exactly do you know about the servers this forum runs on? How many are there, how much RAM and what kinds of CPUs, what optimizations have been made to them... Etc.

      Please. Enlighten us.

You'd think that with how much money they make... well... they could just kick out all the members who complain since they aren't needed...

Im not a member Im a customer, and a customer has a right to make a comment about the product they buy. Sorry if that offends you.

Here is what I know about the server. Its crashes often, loads slow, often times out. In fact in one of your own PM's to me you commented on how you dont go after people for double posting since you know that the sever is often so slow that people dont realize that there post was even made the first time.

Personally I could care less about how much RAM the server has. What I care about is the net result and performance. I especially care about this after I spend a couple hundred on WSO bumps only to find that a couple of hours later the server is timing out, crashing and not loading for the people I have paid you to help me reach (by you I mean the forum not you personally)

Here is a suggestion if your open to it. Try to treat your customers like customers. Thank me for letting you know that your sever is having issues, apologize for the inconvenience to a paying customer, and assure everyone that the issues is being looked into. Dont get defensive and confrontational. The forum is a great way to promote a product but it is very frustrating when you just pay for your bumps and then it starts crashing. Really man if you cant take even the slightest bit of feedback from a customer that doesnt kiss your rear then I honestly feel sorry for you.

I didn't say the system doesn't have problems. I never said it wasn't inconvenient. I asked you to support your implication with something solid, rather than snide comments.

Allow me to clarify something for you: I don't work for Allen and I don't work for you. You are not my customer.

Good to clarify that you dont work for the form, you cant blame me for thinking that you did when you admin forums and comment like you do. But my fault for assuming.

And I did give something solid. The results which in the end are all that matter.

I mean think of this, if you got in a bus and paid the driver $5 for a bus ride across town and the bus broke down so you say something to the driver about it and he responds with .. well what do you know about the engine in this bus? How many cylinders does it have? You would be like WTF does that matter? All that matters is that I paid to get across town and the bus broke down.

Same thing here: I paid for the chance to have my post seen by customers, and the thread broke down. Do I care how much RAM the server has? Does it matter? No. All that matters is the net result. ... I didnt get across town because the bus broke.

Anyway though Im frustrated a little that I did just pay for my bumps and this is going on I didnt mean this thread to turn into a rant or a complaint about the forum or a huge discussion, and it looks like thats the way its going. Overall despite its unreliability and short comings the WSO forum is one of the most cost effective methods of advertising. It would be even better though if the timeout , crashing issues could be looked at.

              Brett,
you cant blame me for thinking that you did when you admin forums and comment like you do.
Don't blame you for that a bit. It's a natural assumption. Incorrect, but not unreasonable to think.
And I did give something solid. The results which in the end are all that matter.
How is that relevant to your specific comment?

Note that I didn't suggest there was any problem with you commenting on the issues, or that you should just ignore them.
I mean think of this, if you got in a bus and paid the driver $5 for a bus ride across town and the bus broke down so you say something to the driver about it and he responds with .. well what do you know about the engine in this bus?
Invalid comparison. A more accurate representation of your original comment, using vehicles, would be to say that you were in a Mercedes limousine and, when it broke down, you started snarking about why the company bought such cheap cars.

Treating complex technical issues as though they were a matter of someone being cheap is unproductive. And it encourages others to assign incorrect causes to the problem.

This forum runs on two high-end servers, optimized specifically for the software in use.
It would be even better though if the timeout , crashing issues could be looked at.
Amen. And they are being worked on. Regularly. The causes change. Sometimes it's the software, and sometimes it's external attacks.

I understand the frustration. Believe me, I do. I share it. But talking as though Allen were trying to run a system with over a half million members on a shared hosting account isn't going to help.

Don't know where you've been but it does happen....it happens with any busy website on occasion.

I don't quite understand the drama in this and other threads about a short down time on this forum. Almost always, when there is a problem loading this site - if you go away and come back in a couple hours, it's fixed.

Im not a member Im a customer, and a customer has a right to make a comment about the product they buy. Sorry if that offends you.
That's an entitlement attitude. You may be a customer of sellers here - but on this forum you are a member just like those sellers are.

If you are a seller here, I understand it can be frustrating but from what I've seen things get back to normal rather quickly and the bumps, etc take up just where they left off.

I paid $800 last month to the Warrior forum and a total of around $5000 in the last couple of months. If that doesnt make me a customer than IDK WTF does. See I think that people who pay someone else for a service are customers. I pay the Warrior forum for a service .. so I thought that made me a customer. IDK perhaps Im wrong.

There was no need for drama at all, I made small slightly negative comment out of frustration because the forum was getting all janky right after I bumped and some people decided to put me on the spot for it. People are far to defensive sometimes. Anyway like I said that isnt what I started this thread for, I originally wanted info not to degrade into this kind of discussion. Overall I love this forum its a great value for the ad dollars. I am human after all though and I get frustrated sometimes just like everyone else, people should try to understand that before they start jumping down peoples throats for a very slightly negative comment. Anyway lets let this one die guys, nothing of value for people to read on this thread

If people are getting "janky" it's only because you made a negative comment on a situation that you have 0 background information on.

I'm not an expert (but I did stay at Holiday Inn express last night!) but there are many reasons why a website might crash, and there are many that may be quite beyond the website administrators control.

So to blame them for not having "better servers" kinda smacks of a LOT of ignorance.

I'm not saying you aren't a normal person, that everyone doesn't get upset, or even that you don't have REASON to be upset, just that you made an ignorant and uninformed statement and seem unjustly upset with people who have called you out on it.

Sometimes even the most robust server setups have issues too.

As the former owner of a 120k member forum, I can attest to this. We spent over $6,000/mo on our server set up with RackSpace -- 2 mirrored dedicated servers, load balancer, physical DDOS appliance ($1k alone), 24/7 support. We still had slowdowns and downtime for various reasons.

Forums in particular are demanding and unpredictable beasts.

I just posted a heat chart of the last 2 weeks in the Main Making Money forum (top one) I have to say the times have been confusing for me too. One of the days I saw it went up to over 20K, this morning I saw it at under 1000, and then jump to 4K in less then 15 mins. Not sure whats going on here.
