Stop Wasting Your Time With "Quick And Easy" Traffic Strategies - They Don't Work!

by rspadi

There are easy or relatively easy strategies to generate web traffic and there are those strategies that are a bit tougher and more time consuming - most people don't like them so much.

Most of those "Get Massive Website Traffic" products out there are geared towards the easier traffic strategies. Not so much because those techniques are so fantastic, but "quick and easy" just sells so much better.

However, when you look a bit closer you quickly realize that those "easy" traffic strategies actually can become quite time consuming without actually providing much traffic. So, you often end up spending hours of boring work while getting only a few visitors to your site.

I tested pretty much all traffic strategies out there and I was always particularly excited about those "quick and easy" traffic secrets... but, to be honest, I never came across any strategy that would fall under the label of "quick and easy" and that produced good results.

Sure, various of those traffic generation techniques worked at some point in the past. But, they usually stop working after a relatively short period of time as more and more people start using them.

The quicker and easier a certain strategy is, the more people will use it and when a "critical mass" of people using it is reached, the strategy usually stops working. On the other hand, most of the slightly tougher traffic strategies worked well 10 years ago and they are still working great today.

It all comes down to providing outstanding VALUE! Yes, every now and then you may get lucky and get big spikes of traffic without really providing much value, but this kind of traffic usually is not repeatable and it sizzles out quickly.

So, the magic traffic formula is: Provide value, value, value... and market your value to get your traffic avalanche started.

And yes, of course, you can also buy traffic. But, if you don't provide value, you won't sell a lot and spending money on traffic without getting any return on your investment doesn't really make that much sense.

Why is the not so easy traffic so much better than the quick and easy traffic strategies?

Here are a few things about quick and easy traffic strategies:

* Most of the time it is not as quick and easy as promised.
* Oftentimes you end up spending a lot of time and energy for only a handful of site visitors.
* The quality of this kind of traffic is often very poor - it just doesn't convert very well.
* Thousands of people use those strategies and everything that's used and abused by thousands of people usually stops working fairly quickly.
* The search engines (especially Google) don't like those traffic strategies - simply because they clutter up the web without providing any value.

Examples for "quick and easy" traffic strategies:

* Mass forum posting without any real value - typically one or two sentences.
* Mass blog posting. Something like: "Great blog post. I'm really looking forward to learn more from you..."
* Building thousands of low quality links for SEO purpose - just doesn't work any more.
* Submitting cheap, spun articles to hundreds of article directories.
*

And here is what I think about not so easy traffic:

* Yes, of course, those strategies are a bit tougher, but they are NOT that difficult neither.
* You will spend more time upfront, but you will get a huge return on your time investment.
* Many of those traffic techniques not only provide a big initial spike of site visitors, but also an ongoing steady flow of traffic.
* Google and other search engines loves everything that provides value and rewards the "value packages" you place all over the web with high rankings and great free traffic.

Examples for higher quality and not quite so easy traffic strategies:

* Guest posting on quality authority sites with high traffic - to get your article posted on those sites, you will need to provide some really good value.

* Network with the top guys in your niche and provide something of outstanding value for their audiences - a pdf report, a video, a software tool...

* Provide a bonus product for a big product launch that perfectly complements the main product -for example, a software tool that automates one of the strategies provided in the main product. This strategy alone could add hundreds of high quality buyer leads to your list that are worth thousands of dollars.

* And of course, there are many other strategies, but this gives you a basic idea on how to distinguish between "good" and "bad" traffic strategies.

The big problem (especially for newbies) is that high quality strategies with a huge impact aren't really heavily marketed. At least 9 out of 10 product launches is about quick and easy and no effort... - unfortunately those are all empty promises.

When I got started, I've fallen for almost any scam out there and the problem wasn't even so much about the money I spent on those products, but about the time lost on those useless strategies.

Really, there are no big Internet marketing SECRETS out there, it is all about the fundamentals and the basic stuff.

Here is the most important tip I can give you: Provide huge VALUE in whatever you do and then go out there and tell everyone wha tyou have to offer... until your "snowball" becomes a huge avalanche and generates massive traffic and sales for you.

It's all about Value, Value, Value... - you get back from life what you put out there!

What are your preferred high quality traffic strategies?

I totally agree. There are only two secrets to Internet Marketing.

    1. You have to take intelligent action and repeat that action longterm.
    2. Provide more real meaningful value than anyone else.

After that the only questions left are which solution(s) will you offer and what method will you use to reach the buyers cost-effectively.

That might sound simple...but it's not simple...and it's not easy. The key is taking action with perseverance. The real secret I guess is that there is no secret...there is no shortcut.

I guess if people realized that there would be a lot more broke Internet Marketers of a certain class and a lot more wealthier ones of the other class.

Well thats because the vast majority of people dont want to put in effort. The simple fact is that you can choose almost any business and you will see that it is full of people who fail because they quite simply dont want to put any effort into it. The internet is no different. In fact its worse because there is a low entry barrier so people seem to think that if you just know the 'special secrete' you can make tons of cash.

Well here , for everyone , is the special secrete ... "treat it like a business and WORK"

There are quite a few "quick and easy" traffic strategies that can work great, as long as you know how to effectively implement them. PPC, banner ads, media buys, solo ads... just to name a few.

No doubt, PPC, media buys, solo ads... those are all great strategies, but they still require time and effort to master. It takes a lot of testing and tracking and most paid traffic campaigns will start out with an initial loss.

When AdWords was launched, pretty much everyone could make money with it - even with the silliest Clickbank products. Yes, for a short time frame that was quick & easy, but it no longer is.

The rules have changed, click prices increased, there is more competition... and probably 99% of those people who spend money on PPC, solo ads, banner buys and are not willing to do the necessary testing & tracking will be disappointed with their results.

I'm not saying it is overly complicated to make those things work, but it definitely is not like: "lets pick a Clickbank product, buy solo ads, banner ads... for $500 and make $1000 within a few hours"

Traffic is a lot simpler than people like to think.

Find the biggest sites where your target audience hangs out.

Interact on those sites whether it be through posting, banner ads, whatever.

Don't spread yourself too thin. Concentrate on just mastering a couple of the biggest traffic sources in your niche. For most niches they will be sites such as Facebook, Youtube and authority forums.

I find that if you would concentrate on providing tremendous value the traffic will come so aim to provide value not just about how much traffic this person or that person said a particular method will bring in. And as always you need to track your traffic because there is always the 80/20 RULE. 80% of your efforts will bring only 20% of your traffic and 20% of your efforts will bring 80% of your results.

When I pay my PPC broker to get traffic for me that is quick and easy, when I tell my list broker what my offer is and to find me related lists I can rent, that's quick and easy.

All I have to do is pull out my credit card and pay, they do everything else.. I just make sure my offers convert which they do, and I'm set

This sounds easy, but is it really that easy? Imagine a newbie contacting someone to do a PPC or solo ad campaign... there is a big probability for the newbie to get burned and to lose money.

In order to make this work, you need to have at least some knowledge & experience with the traffic source, you need to be able to pick a good broker, you need to be able to ask the right questions when you hire a broker, you need to know what you can expect (initial loss until campaign gets profitable...)

Also, what are you doing with the traffic? Your broker won't handle your sales funnel, he won't handle your copywriting and many other aspects of your business...

I guess, you have a good deal of experience and from your current standpoint, what you are doing is easy, but just imagine someone with zero or only a few months of experience - it won't be that easy.

It is a bit like the guy who spends 3 years to build a great list, who provides a lot of value, establishes a great relationship with his readers... and when he does a mailing, he makes $10.000 -

All it takes is writing a quick email and clicking the send button - quick & easy, not really, because it takes several years to build that list and establish that relationship.

I'm not saying it is rocket science to make money online - not at all, but there is no quick and easy way to get started & to make a lot of money in 2 weeks.

It takes time, effort and dedication... it's getting quick & easy only once the important groundwork has been done.

    rspadi,

Very good post and certainly spot on

I find that if you create VERY good content providing MASSIVE VALUE to people and also there is an element of entertainment added to it, people can't resist but come back for more because they know when they see your material, they are in for a treat...

Doing the above and syndicating the content you produce in different formats (articles, audios, free reports, videos, etc) + using social media "properly" will make the traffic side of things relatively easy eventually as your fans would share the content so it gets more exposure.

BUT it does take time, effort and dedication. Mo magic software needed (or wanted!)

    Great post and advice.

By providing high value to people they are more likely to trust you (which is vital if you are building a list) and they are also more likely to share your posts, offers, etc. with their friends (and word of mouth advertising is the BEST kind of advertising).

    Excellent Post...

I have learned that value is the key to long term success. I started out as an email marketer selling affiliate products and after about 2 years of listing building I realized that even though I was making money, I was not building a following of fans which is vital for any online business.

I have been selling solo ads and swiping for over 2 years but i'm starting to lean towards membership sites and blogging daily to provide real value and a true following of fans.

Sure list building is profitable but if you are not providing your own products your leads will quickly unsubscribe because you have provided them with an offer from someone else that they find valuable.

I think the key to long term success starts with having one or two sites that you are adding new content to on a daily basis oppose to having 100 small niche sites you can't manage properly and the objective is to get people to walk through a sale funnel so you can make a quick buck.

Also creating your own products will surely start a true following, if your products are well thought out and creative of course. Not some spun PLR product, i'm talking about a unique product that takes 6 month to put together working 8 hours a day. The first thing you should consider, is how will people react to the product, and then you have to ask yourself if it's something you would be thrilled to buy yourself.

The problem is, people don't want to put in the work because 90% of marketers out there will tell you how easy it is to be successful online, all you have to do is work this simple 2 click system for 30 minutes a day and you will make 150,000 a years for life.

    Best regards,

    -Seth Riley

Quick-n-Easy has no place in IM.

The only thing that really works is consistent work, with a plan, doing what has proven to get results if you stick with it long enough.

The problem with most of us, we get restless, easily discouraged and disillusioned before we start seeing any hint of success.

Absolutely. I've bought enough "fast traffic" type products that were based on something that wasn't quite described in the sales page.

Reminds me of some book I bought years ago, titled, "how I made ten grand in one weekend" or something like that.

This was way before I knew anything about IM.

Basically the book was about some real estate guru who spend a weekend writing and sending an email to his list.

A list he spent YEARS growing.

It also reminds me of Steve Martins old joke of how to get a million dollars and not pay taxes.

step one, of course, is to get a million dollars.

It's like right now till the end of Aug, we are giving away a 100-6 packs of nail polish for just signing up and no we would not sell e-mail address, we are more interested in selling our product lines and building a e-mail list to send our specials out. So I don't see how your strategies work without getting people to review a site.
