I'm done with ElegantThemes. Any honest WP theme subscriptions out there?

There seems to be too many expensive WP them based subscriptions out there that charge too much, or in some cases they make unauthorized charges.

I used Elegant Themes quite a bit until they started to make unauthorized charges to my Bank Account. I emailed them and they told me that those charges would stop, yet their office continued to charge me even after they made that promise. Somewhat shady if you ask me. Anyways, I'm done with them.

Does anyone recommend another WP theme subscription that is affordable?

    You can try looking through this list. I think they have a few that are subscription based and affordable.

    I have been pretty impressed with Woothemes and I believe they have a subscription program. If you are looking for frameworks, I have been tempted to try Genesis which has a subscription offering as well. Unfortunately, I end up buying one off themes and charge them to my customers instead.

    What kind of fees is Elegant Themes charging you for?

    I thought they only had a $39 annual subscription. Are they charging you that every month or something?

    I cancelled my Elegant Themes subscription a few months back. I had subscribed through Paypal. Did you make sure you cancelled the subscription on your Paypal account?

    I use SOCRATES PREMIUM THEME. It works well for me, it very easy to modify. I tried Elegant themes and WooThemes, it seemed too complicated.

    Socrates theme has a 7 day free trial, after it's a 1 time payment of $55. They also have a forum where you can find answer to almost any question.

      I am also using elegant themes and is very much impressed with them. I paid just once for the 85 themes for a year subscription but even after you unsubscribe you can still use your 85 themes without any trouble except no updates

      Elegant themes have just updated some of their themes and they are great. They have great support for their members and will answer all your queries.

      I don't understand what you are talking about unauthorized subscription and I don't think 190000+ people WILL be wrong. Remember these are yearly subs and not monthly..

      You should go to your PayPal account and unsubscribe it there which I am sure you haven't done still now.

    Hi,

    I also use Elegantthemes, have developers license with them. Did not have that payments issue with them ever... Did you cancel your membership and they still charge you? You should be in touch with their support, I am sure they will fix it as they have lot of trust and Goodwill in the market.

    Thanks for all the valuable feed back, I appreciate it.

    Sorry for being vague on what happened with Elegant Themes. They got some great themes and I have been using them for years, and I like their work.

    I cancelled my membership more than a year ago since I no longer use their themes. They automatically charge me last year but I was able to call Paypal and have the charge taken off. I also deleted them from "automatic Payments" on my Paypal account.

    Then recently, what really got me perturbed was...

    A week ago I got this email saying that they were going to automatically charge me for a yearly subscription. I emailed them back right away and told them I no longer used their services and not charge me, and they wrote back assuring me that they wouldn't do that this time around. So what happens a week later (today, and on my Bday)?

    Yep, they charge me the annual subscription of $39, lol.

    Anyways I guess mishaps like these are just a part of doing business, but I'm just not thrilled when people try to be sneaky, on purpose or otherwise. I don't think I'll ever get used to that.

    And the take away from this is that I just have to watch my Paypal and bank accounts like a hawk because nowadays unauthorized charges are more prone to happen in this day and age.

    And now that I got some great recommendations on this page I'm gonna follow through and check 'em out, so thanks again. : )

      I use Elegant Themes with a developer Lic. and love them.
      I am also an affiliate with them and have never had any $$$$ issues for myself or my customers.
      It sounds like a payment system error of some type. Follow the PayPal suggestions above to get them out of the auto pay status.

      I too am sorry that you had difficulty. I am also a very satisfied Elegant Themes subscriber.

      Judging from the response you've gotten from other members posting in this thread, I'm guessing that your experience is pretty isolated.

      I have used their support many times and have never found them to be underhanded with billing or other types of help whatsoever.

      I know that in the past I have questioned automatic payments posted by PayPal but in every case, the fault was my own for not reading the terms of service close enough to realize that I initially authorized annual rebilling.
