Good Solution for News Website

I want to create a news website which is updated daily and incorporates a forum or comments section. I've been looking into SocialGo and Wordpress themes. My idea of a WordPress news theme should have sliding featured contents, sliding/rotating latest news, breaking news alert feature, appealing web design, and social media buttons.

Any recommendations? Should I use Wordpress?

Wordpress is a great way to go. Plus, there are tons of themes already created for you to download for free (or paid).

My question... are you going to be writing all of this content or just sourcing it as RSS feeds from other sites?

From your description it seems you want a lot going on the homepage. Maybe you could simplify it and have only a few areas of news items in categories.

How do you plan on monetizing this news site?

I'll have several people sending me hand picked news articles, videos and related stories to put on the website. We already have confirmation to share articles from 3 more established websites, eventually I want to ask them if they are interested in posting a link to our website, once we get ours up to par.

We will incorporate PPC and Direct Banner ads once we get some traffic.

    Absolutely,

Since you will incorporate PPC and Direct Banner ads, WordPress is ideally the right to pick. As hockmasm says "there are tons of themes already created for you to download for free (or paid)".

You should be more concern on how will the interface design would be interacting with the web visitors. And the content is as much as fresh as flash report.

Sure, why not. There is a local news here in Cleveland that uses Wordpress for their site, check it out FOX8.com

Yes you can incorporate a forum in wordpress. You can have look at this wordpress plugin http://wordpress.org/plugins/bbpress/. You could also add a new directory into your installation and install another forum software e.g vBulleting as a sub domain. As for wordpress themes go check out themeforest. Lots of great themes are available there.

    All the best.

Go with Wordpress and don't be scary, it's a great CMS that can skyrocket your news site. Find the right plugins and enjoy their power. And Max, keep in mind that Google still loves Wordpress more than anything else. I think it's not just my opinion. Good luck and never give up.
