That's why you have the problem: you and 10,000 other people with no successful experience or credibility are doing that. You perhaps don't see them because you don't look for them, and you don't read all their threads here.

You've gone into a line of self-employment in which, overall, perhaps 97% of people fail to make any significant amount of money and 3% succeed (depending on whose figures you believe - the exact figures don't matter very much: the point is self-evident), and you're making probably the single commonest mistake that beginning marketers make; but when you ask "What am I doing wrong?" and people tell you, you want to argue with them about it and defend your position, rather than discussing it sensibly and practically. I'm not trying to "have a go" at you: I'm trying to answer your question openly and honestly and also to explain to you why you're effectively making it very difficult indeed (not to mention unappealing!) for anyone who actually knows what they're talking about to try to help you, here - sorry.

The reality is that you may make money and start building a real business when you get out of that niche and into "cauliflower soup recipes", or "decorating kids' bedroom ceilings", or "growing grapes in your backyard", or "skating videos" (these are intended as abstract examples, not necessarily literal ones, although in fact at least two of those do happen to be real niches from which real people make real money) and/or something of which you have real experience, yourself, and actually know something about. There's some practical, constructive, sensible advice for you, but it's up to you whether or not you're willing to listen to it - I wish you well, either way.

If you're going to be in business, start a business with something you LOVE. That way you'll never "work" a day in your life. Not completely true. There's always grunt work to do, but the goals are heartfelt not wallet felt.

Right so why not start a blog about web development or freelancing / fiver instead because you actually know about these subjects and can write with some authority.

You need to start where you are, and find people in the same place or just behind you. What I mean is people are coming into this business for the first time everyday. Don't try to pretend you are a millionaire Guru or anything.

Best advise, learn something new every day, week, month. When you learn something make a video, or just a post and tell everyone what you learned. it can be as simple as, Today I learned how to install WordPress. Then as you progress and try different methods you can tell others what you learned. There will of course be the opportunity to make money with affiliate links, but don't start a post with that in mind.

Maybe the most important though is to build a list. Do this by giving away free goodies, reports, ebooks, etc. It takes time. And for God sake don't start sending out emails to your list every week with the "One thing you have been missing", or "The missing link that made me $12763.63 in only 12 hours".

Just be honest. People can smell a fake.

I would go back to your first thought. Like I said, just share what you learn no matter how basic it might seem. Someone else will be in your situation tomorrow and not know what to do.

If you find some free info, share it. I would create an opt in and try to get some people who follow what you say. This way when you find a product or method that helps you actually make some money, there will be the opportunity to make some referral cash. You might even find that are really good at something that others are not, and are willing to pay you to do it for them.
